Overkill (band)
Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many lineup changes, leaving bassist D.D. Verni and lead vocalist Bobby Ellsworth, Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth as the only remaining original members. The band's current lineup includes Verni, Ellsworth, Dave Linsk on lead guitar, Derek "The Skull" Tailer on rhythm guitar, and Jeramie Kling as a touring drummer. Along with Nuclear Assault and Anthrax (American band), Anthrax, the latter of whom would feature one-time Overkill lead guitarist Dan Spitz, the band is one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands, and they are often called "the Motörhead of thrash metal", due to their unique playing style, which was influenced by punk rock and the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM). Overkill (Motörhead Album)
''Overkill'' is the second studio album by English rock band Motörhead, released on 3 March 1979. It was the band's first album with Bronze Records. ''Kerrang!'' magazine listed the album at number 46 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time". American thrash metal band Overkill was named after this album. Background Bronze Records signed Motörhead in 1978 and booked them time in London's Wessex Studios to record a single consisting of Richard Berry's "Louie Louie" and a new song by the band called "Tear Ya Down". The band toured to promote the single "Louie Louie", which became a modest hit, while Chiswick released the ''Motörhead'' album in white vinyl, to keep the momentum going. Overkill Software is a Swedish video game developer based and founded in Stockholm in 2009 by Ulf Andersson (video game designer), Ulf Andersson, Bo Andersson, the founders and owners of defunct game developer Grin (company), Grin, along with Simon Viklund. In 2012, Swedish game studio Starbreeze Studios acquired Overkill. The company is known for their ''Payday'' series, consisting of ''Payday: The Heist'', ''Payday 2, and Payday 3.'' History Brothers Bo and Ulf Andersson had founded Grin (company), Grin in 1997, which had some successful titles including ''Bionic Commando (2009 video game), Bionic Commando''. "Overkill" is a song by English rock band Motörhead. It was released in 7" and 12" vinyl pressings in 1979. It is backed with B-side "Too Late Too Late" which appears on the CD re-issues of the '' Overkill'' album. Early copies came with an "Overkill" badge. The single reached number 39 on the UK Singles Chart. Background and release On 9 March 1979, the band played this song on the BBC TV show ''Top of the Pops'' to support the release of the single. The song was a live favourite and was frequently featured at Motörhead concerts, often in an extended version. On 13 April 2019, Motörhead re-released the original single edit of ''Overkill'' along with "Bomber" on picture disc as a celebration of the album's 40th anniversaries on Record Store Day. Michael Cheung Tin-fu (born 1 December 1996), better known by his stage name MC Cheung Tin-fu, is a Hong Kong singer and actor.
