ORP Ślązak (2015)
ORP ''Ślązak'' (241) is an offshore patrol vessel of the Polish Navy, formerly known as . The ship is named ''Ślązak'' (). It is a licence variant of the MEKO A-100 project developed by Blohm + Voss. Construction In 1997 Poland was invited to join NATO and became a member state on 12 March 1999. In December 1997 representatives of the Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Navy selected a conceptual design for future multipurpose corvettes. Inquiries were sent to four foreign shipyards from the UK, the US, Germany and Sweden. The commission decided to go with the German MEKO A-100 corvette design by Blohm + Voss. The technical project was approved in 2001. Polish Navy Shipyard
Polish Navy Shipyard () is a Polish shipyard located in Gdynia. It is the oldest operating shipyard in Poland. The first Polish shipyard on the Baltic Sea after regaining independence was established on May 10, 1922, as a result of moving the Naval Port Workshops (''Warsztaty Portowe Marynarki Wojennej'') from Modlin to Puck. At that time, repairs were mainly made to warships stationed in the Puck naval base. After the relocation of the naval base to Gdynia, the same was done in 1927 with the Naval Port Workshops. In the 1930s, the shipyard infrastructure was significantly expanded. The RBS 15 (Robotsystem 15) is a long-range fire-and-forget surface-to-surface and air-to-surface anti-ship missile. The later version Mk. IV has the ability to attack land targets as well. The RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) is a small, lightweight, infrared homing surface-to-air missile in use by the German, Japanese, Greek, Turkish, South Korean, Saudi Arabian, Egyptian, Mexican, UAE, and United States navies. The Gawron class () or Projekt 621 was a planned class of multipurpose corvettes ordered by Polish Navy. The Gawron class was a variant of the MEKO A-100 project developed by the Blohm + Voss shipyard in Germany. Construction of the first ship of the class started in 2001. The project was terminated in February 2012 but in October 2013 a contract was signed to complete the existing hull as a patrol ship by 2016.
