The Youth Organisation of New Democracy ( el, Οργάνωση Νέων Νέας Δημοκρατίας, ΟΝΝΕΔ) is the youth organisation of the liberal Greek political party New Democracy. It was founded in 1974 by young members of New Democracy. Youth Of The European People's Party
Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP) is an umbrella organization of European political youth organisations and is the official youth wing of the European People's Party. YEPP brings together 64 Centre-Right youth political organisations from 40 countries all over Europe. Founded in 1997 by the 2006–2014 Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt, YEPP has developed into the largest political youth organisation in Europe. Full members status is held to the European Youth Forum (YFJ) which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with both these bodies (full members status to the European Youth Forum has also Democrat Youth Community of Europe, whose senior branch merged into the European People's Party in 2002). Assassination Of Nikos Temponeras
Nikos Temponeras (1954 – January 8, 1991) was a high school mathematics teacher, and a member of the left-wing ''Labour Antimilitaristic Front'' (EAM). Temponeras was murdered in Patras during the student protests of 1990–1991 by Giannis Kalampokas, a municipal councillor and president of the local New Democracy branch. Temponeras was the first of five fatalities caused by attacks against the protesters. 1990–1991 Student Protests In Greece
The 1990–1991 student protests in Greece were carried out against an education-related bill proposed by the New Democracy-led Greek government. The protests were accompanied by school occupations, and the students were subjected to violent attacks from the Hellenic Police and organizations aligned with New Democracy. Five people were killed during the demonstrations; mathematics teacher and left-wing activist Nikos Temponeras was assassinated during an attack by members of the Youth Organisation of New Democracy (ONNED) in Patras in January 1991, and, two days later, another four people died in a fire caused by a tear gas agent fired by the police in Athens. The International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) is a political international, global alliance of centre-right Youth politics, political youth organisations and the youth wing of the International Democrat Union. The IYDU in its current form was founded in March 1991 in Washington, D.C. A previous organisation of the same name had been established in July 1981, also in Washington, but subsequently ceased to exist. Evangelos-Vasileios "Vangelis" Meimarakis ( el, Ευάγγελος-Βασίλειος "Βαγγέλης" Μεϊμαράκης, ; born 14 December 1953), is a Greek lawyer and politician who served as the acting President of New Democracy and Leader of the Opposition in Greece from 5 July to 24 November 2015, competing as the challenger to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in the September 2015 Greek legislative election. Anastasios Papaligouras
Anastasios Papaligouras ( el, Αναστάσιος Παπαληγούρας; born 14 April 1948) is a Greek lawyer and New Democracy politician and was Minister for Mercantile Marine and Island Policy. Born in Athens, Papaligouras studied law at the University of Athens and took a Masters in Comparative European Law at Brunel University, London. He was leader of ONNED (the New Democracy youth organisation) from 1976 to 1977. From 1976 to 1978, he was a member of the New Democracy Executive Committee, and from 1976 to 1981 he was a member of the New Democracy Administrative Committee.
