Parkway Gardens Apartment Homes, commonly also known as ''(the)'' ''O'Block'', is a gated private apartment complex in the Greater Grand Crossing community area on the border of Woodlawn and Washington Park, on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. The complex was built from 1950 to 1955; architect Henry K. Holsman, who planned several of Chicago's affordable housing developments, designed the Modernist buildings. History Parkway Gardens Apartment Homes, built from 1950 to 1955, was the last of Henry K. Holsman's many housing development designs in Chicago. Holsman began designing low-income housing in Chicago in the 1910s when an urban housing shortage developed after World War I. He worked on several of the Chicago Housing Authority's major housing projects in the 1910s; later in the decade, he began developing his projects with funding from the Federal Housing Authority. Dayvon Daquan Bennett (August 9, 1994 – November 6, 2020), known professionally as King Von, was an American rapper and gangster from Chicago, Illinois, who was affiliated with the Black Disciples gang. He was considered a preeminent figure in the drill genre. Bennett gained recognition for his storytelling and distinctive lyricism, particularly with his 2018 single, " Crazy Story", and his 2020 single, " Took Her to the O", both of which received triple platinum certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). White City (sometimes listed as White City Amusement Park in print advertisements) was a recreational area located in the Greater Grand Crossing and Woodlawn community areas on the south side of Chicago from 1905 until the 1950s. At the time of its opening, on May 26, 1905, it was claimed to be the largest park of its type in the United States. The Black Disciples (often abbreviated as the BD's) is an African-American street gang that originated in Chicago, Illinois.
