Nissedal
Nissedal is a rural municipality in Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark in Norway. It is part of the traditional regions of Upper Telemark and Vest-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Treungen. The municipality of Nissedal was established on January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). As of 2018, Nissedal is home to 1,489 full-time residents and 2,246 vacation homes. Nissedal has been nicknamed the Telemark Riviera due to its close proximity to Gautefall Alpine Center, and due to its many campgrounds and places for outdoor activities.Collectif (2011). Treungen
Treungen is a village in, and the administrative centre of Nissedal municipality, Telemark county in Norway. Located just east of the village Tveitsund, it is a part of the urban area of the same name, which has a population of 361 as of 1 January 2009. The village is the sole centre of population greater than 200 in the Nissedal municipality. Treungen is surrounded by tall mountains and is situated where the river Nidelva begins at the southernmost part of Lake Nisser, Telemark's largest lake. Immediately south of Treungen is the lake Tjørull, Nissedal's second-largest lake. Rivers in Treungen includes Fyresåna and Nisseråna, which intersects the village. The Old Norse name for Treungen was «Þriðjungrinn», meaning "a third part" and probably refers to an old division of the village. Gautefall
Gautefall (also known as Gautefallheia) is a mountain hamlet (Norwegian: ''fjellgrend'') in Drangedal municipality in Telemark County, Norway. It is situated in-between Bostrak in Drangedal and Treungen in Nissedal. It is home to a ski center, tourist resort and consists mostly of vacation homes and cabins. It is located in a mountainous area and is a major winter sports destination. It is a popular destination for skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, swimming, and other recreational activities. Nisser
Nisser is a lake in Nissedal, Norway. It is the 13th-largest lake in the nation by area with a surface area of , the 10th largest by volume at 7.19 km³, and the 13th deepest at . It is located in Nissedal and Kviteseid municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, and is Telemark's largest lake. Part of the Arendal watershed, water enters from the discharge of Vråvatn, and its outlet is the Nisserelva river. In 1914, a canal was constructed between Nisser (which is above sea level) and Vråvatn (which is above sea level). This makes it possible to travel the long stretch from Tveitsund to Vråliosen by boat. The Norse form of the name was ''Nizir'' - probably from an older form ''*Niðsær''. Telemark
Telemark is a traditional region, a former county, and a current electoral district in southern Norway. In 2020, Telemark merged with the former county of Vestfold to form the county of Vestfold og Telemark. Vest-Telemark
The Vest-Telemark traditional district of Norway comprises the upper and western areas of the larger region of Upper Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark. The region consists of six municipalities: Fyresdal, Tokke, Vinje, Nissedal, Kviteseid and Seljord. Vest-Telemark belongs to the traditional region Upper Telemark. Vestfold Og Telemark
Vestfold og Telemark (; ) is a county under disestablishment in Norway. The county is the southernmost one of Eastern Norway and consists of two distinct and separate traditional regions: the former counties of Telemark and (most of) Vestfold. The capital is located at the town of Skien, which is also the county's largest city. While Skien is the seat of the county municipality, the seat of the County Governor is Tønsberg. It borders the counties of Viken, Vestland, Rogaland and Agder.
