Nyo Min Lwin
Nyo Min Lwin ( my, ညိုမင်းလွင်; born 28 September 1979) is a Burmese film director, scriptwriter and former actor. He is best known for directing the first Myanmar LGBT film ''The Gemini'' (2016) and the first Myanmar sci-fi film ''Ananda: Rise of Notra'' (2019). His career began as an actor in Burmese films and gained success as a director in the early days of his career by directing horror films. Throughout his career, he has acted in over 15 films and directed over 100 films. Early life and education Nyo Min Lwin was born on 28 September 1979 in Yangon, Myanmar. He is the only son of Aung Win, a writer who wrote under the pen name Pike Htwe, and his wife Khin Mya Thi. ''Mya Mya'' ( my, မြမြ) is a 2020 Burmese horror film starring Thinzar Wint Kyaw, Min Taw Win, Dee Dee, and Win Tha Pyay Tun. The film, produced by Night School Film Production and Sein Htay Film Production, premiered in Myanmar on February 6, 2020. The character Mya Mya was based on the death of a feisty Yangon factory worker and strike-organiser before her death – from further humiliation is that, while haunting the men who raped and murdered her, she does not do so half-naked. The cinema of Burma has a long history dating back to the 1910s. The person who created the first silent film was Ohn Maung (Burma's first producer and director). Start of the Burmese cinema Burma's first film was a recording of the funeral of Tun Shein - a leading politician of the 1910s, who campaigned for Burmese independence in London. It was captured with a second-hand camera by Ohn Maung and was screened at the Royal Cinema, near Scott Market (now Bogyoke Market), which belonged to a Mr Achar, a friend of Ohn Maung.
