Nuru Bayramov (; born 1963) is a surgeon, a professor and head of first department of surgical diseases in Azerbaijan Medical University. Early life, education and career Nuru Bayramov was born on 17 September 1963 in the Narimanli village of Basargechar region of Goycha. He went to Narimanli village secondary school in 1970, and after graduating from high school in 1980, entered the first year of treatment and prevention faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University in the same year. He graduated from the faculty with honors from Lenin and majoring in surgery. From 1986 to 1988, he passed clinical internship at the first Department of Surgical Diseases of the Azerbaijan Medical University. Nuru Kane (born Papa Nouroudine Kane) is a Senegalese singer/songwriter who plays guitar, bass and guimbri, a three-stringed bass in the band Bayefall Gnawa. Nuru's debut CD, ''Sigil'', which was released in the UK on March 14, 2006 and the rest of the world on April 24 by Riverboat Records and World Music Network, included griot, gnawa, and blues influences. In 2013, he released ''Exile'' by Riverboat Records and World Music Network. He was formerly the Director of the San Francisco Department of Public Works from 2011 until 2020 where he was involved in a corruption scandal. Nuru is a United States is a 501(c)3 created to help marginalized communities in rural areas of Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. The ultimate aim of the program is to help local leaders end extreme poverty in their communities. Nuru is a Kiswahili word that means "light." History Nuru International was founded by Jake Harriman, who attended the U.S. Naval Academy and served for over seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Platoon Commander. Harriman's experiences in combat compelled him to believe that extreme poverty was a contributing factor to global terrorism.
