Nuri Mahmoud
Nuri Mahmoud (born 13 August 1977, Syria) is a former politician of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) and Democratic Union Party (PYD) and current military officer and speaker of the Peoples' Defense Units (YPG). Early life and education He was born to a Syrian Kurdish family in Qamishli in August 1977. He attended high school where he was politically active. Therefore, he was not permitted to study further in Syria following which he emigrated to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. There he worked for the Kurdish National Council ( ENKS) between 2007 and 2011. Between 2012 and 2013, he served as a member of the executive committee of the Democratic Union Party (PYD). People's Defense Units
The People's Defense Units (YPG), (YPG) ; ar, وحدات حماية الشعب, Waḥdāt Ḥimāyat aš-Šaʽb) also called People's Protection Units, is a mainly- Kurdish militia in Syria and the primary component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The YPG mostly consists of ethnic Kurds, but also includes Arabs and foreign volunteers; it is closely allied to the Syriac Military Council, an Assyrian militia. The YPG was formed in 2011. It expanded rapidly in the Syrian Civil War and came to predominate over other armed Syrian Kurdish groups. A sister militia, the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), fights alongside them. Pierre Laurent (born 1 July 1957) is a French politician and journalist. Ex-director of ''L'Humanité'', and former leader of the French Communist Party (PCF). Career His father, Paul Laurent, was a member of the National Assembly of France for Paris and a high-ranking official of the French Communist Party. Autonomous Administration Of North And East Syria
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), also known as Rojava, is a de facto autonomous region in northeastern Syria. It consists of self-governing sub-regions in the areas of Afrin, Jazira, Euphrates, Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij and Deir Ez-Zor.
