Nukhba Force
The Nukhba forces (), Nukhba Force or just (Al-)Nukhba (; ) is the special forces unit of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. The term is frequently used to refer to Hamas militants. In 2024, the usage of the word roughly corresponds to "Hamas militant" or "Hamas commando". Israel claims the unit led the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, at the beginning of the Gaza war. Training Nukhba members begin their land and sea-based training when they are 18 to 20 years old. History Al-Qassam Brigades established a special forces unit after the 2008–2009 Gaza War. Nukhba members participated in the 2014 and 2021 conflicts with Israel, including the 2014 Zikim attack. In 2017, some members defected to join ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula. Ali Al Qadi
Ali Mohammad Ali Al Qadi (; 1988 – 13 October 2023) was a senior commander in the Nukhba special forces unit of Hamas. He was involved in the planning of the 7 October attacks in Israel. Qadhi was from Al Bireh in the West Bank. In 2005, Israel arrested Qadhi for his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Sasson Nuriel. He was released in 2011 as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange. As part of the prisoner exchange, he was deported to Gaza. Special forces or special operations forces (SOF) are military units trained to conduct special operations. 2014 Zikim Attack
On the evening of 8 July 2014, five Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades militants swam from the Gaza Strip to Zikim beach in southern Israel. Operation Five Hamas frogmen of the al-Qassam Brigades attempted to infiltrate Zikim via the northern beaches of Gaza. According to the IDF, all the infiltrators were killed.
