Noël Foré (23 December 1932 – 16 February 1994) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. His greatest victories were Paris–Roubaix in 1959 and the Tour of Flanders in 1963. Adegem
Adegem is a village and ''deelgemeente'' (sub-municipality) in the municipality of Maldegem in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The village is located about east of Bruges. History The area around Adegem was mapped between 1993 and 1995, and multiple structures were discovered from the Bronze Age. The village was first mentioned in 840 as Addingahim, and means "settlement of the people of Ado (person)". In 1127, Robert de Jonge, the owner of Castle Raverschoot near Adegem, was implicated in the murder of Charles the Good, Count of Flanders, and his castle was destroyed. For most of its history, Adegem was a cultivation settlement belonging to the '' amt'' Maldegem. During the 19th century, Adegem started to develop into a village. 1959 UCI Road World Championships
The 1959 UCI Road World Championships was the 32nd edition of the UCI Road World Championships. It took place on Sunday 16 August 1959 in Zandvoort, Netherlands. However, the women's competition did not take place in Zandvoort, but in Rotheux-Rimière, Belgium, south of Liège. The race was held two weeks before the men's race, on a four-kilometer lap that was completed 18 times. Belgian Yvonne Reynders won the second edition of the women's race over 72 kilometers in one hour and 53 minutes. German Gustav-Adolf Schur succeeded himself as amateur world champion. Frenchman André Darrigade became the winner of the professional road race after cycling more than 292 kilometers. Paris–Roubaix is a one-day professional bicycle road race in northern France, starting north of Paris and finishing in Roubaix, at the border with Belgium. It is one of cycling's oldest races, and is one of the 'Cycling monument, Monuments' or classics of the European calendar, and contributes points towards the UCI World Ranking. From its beginning in 1896 until 1967, the race started in Paris and ended in Roubaix; in 1966 the start moved to Chantilly, Oise, Chantilly; and since 1977 it has started in Compiègne, about north-east of the centre of Paris. Since 1943, the finish has for the most part taken place in the Roubaix Velodrome. The Tour of Flanders (), also known as ''De Ronde'' (''"The Tour"''), is an annual road bicycle racing, road cycling race held in Belgium every spring. Tour Of Belgium
The Tour of Belgium (; ) is a five-day bicycle race which is held annually in Belgium, and is part of the UCI ProSeries. It was held annually between 1908 and 1981, except during both world wars. Between 1982 and 1990 several races were not organised and none at all from 1991 to 2001. From 2002 onwards the race has again become an annual fixture on the cycling calendar. Following the start of the UCI ProTour in 2005 it looked like the race would merge with the Eneco Tour; however this did not happen and it became part of the UCI Europe Tour competition. Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne is an annual single-day road bicycle racing, road cycling race in Belgium. It is held one day after Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, on the last Sunday of February or the first of March, and completes the opening weekend of the Belgian cycling season. It was ranked a UCI race classifications, 1.HC event of the UCI Europe Tour before joining the UCI ProSeries in 2020. Tom Boonen holds the most wins with three victories. History Early editions First held in 1946, the race was run from Kuurne, a small town known for its textile industry, to the Belgian capital of Brussels and back. In the 1950s it served as the opening race of the Belgian cycling season.
