Novaliches
Novaliches is a place that forms the northern areas of Quezon City, and encompasses the whole area of Caloocan, North Caloocan. Etymology The name Novaliches came from the name of the small village of Novaliches in the town of Jérica in Spain. It was awarded to General Manuel Pavía y Lacy, who served as a Governor-General of the Philippines in 1854. The child Isabella II of Spain, Queen Isabella II bestowed on him the title "Marquess of Novaliches" for defending her against her uncle Don (honorific), Don Infante Carlos María Isidro of Spain, Carlos María Isidro Benito de Borbón, who claimed the throne of Spain which resulted in the First Carlist War. Quezon City
Quezon City (, ; ), also known as the City of Quezon and Q.C. (read and pronounced in Filipino language, Filipino as Kyusi), is the richest and List of cities in the Philippines, most populous city in the Philippines. Caloocan
Caloocan, officially the City of Caloocan (; ), is a highly urbanized city in Metro Manila, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 1,661,584 people making it the fourth-most populous city in the Philippines. Caloocan is divided into two geographical locations with a total combined area of , a result of the 1949 expansion of Quezon City, which absorbed much of its territory. It was formerly part of the Province of Rizal in southern Luzon. It comprises what is known as the CAMANAVA area along with the cities of Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela. Manuel Pavía Y Lacy
Manuel Pavía y Lacy, 1st Marquess of Novaliches (6 July 1814 – 22 October 1896), was a Spanish marshal. Biography He was born at Granada on 6 July 1814, the son of Colonel Pavía, and after a few years at the Jesuit school in Valencia he entered the Royal Artillery Academy at Segovia. In 1833 he became a lieutenant in the guards of Queen Isabella II, and during the Carlist War from 1833 to 1840 he became general of division in the latter year at the early age of twenty-six. The Moderate party made him war minister in 1847 and sent him to Catalonia, where his efforts to put down a Carlist rising were not attended with success. He had been made a senator in 1845, and marquess in 1848. He was sent out to Manila in 1852 as governor-general of the Philippines. La Mesa Watershed Reservation
The La Mesa Watershed Reservation is a protected area that preserves the only major watershed in Metro Manila, Philippines. Also known as the Novaliches Watershed, it contains the last remaining rainforest of its size in Metro Manila surrounding the La Mesa Dam and Reservoir, the primary source of potable drinking water for 12 million residents in the Manila metropolitan area. The area is under jointly controlled and supervised by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System. Jérica () is a town in the Castellón (province), Castellón province of Valencia (autonomous community), Valencian Community, Spain. It is in the comarca (region) of Alto Palancia. Its population was 1,703 at the end of 2009. The town's name is based in Arabic شارقة (''šāriqa''), meaning the eastern slope of a mountain.
