Novaggio
Novaggio is a former Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the Lugano (district), district of Lugano, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. On 6 April 2025, the former municipalities of Astano, Bedigliora, Curio, Switzerland, Curio, Miglieglia and Novaggio merged to form the new municipality of Lema, Ticino, Lema. History Novaggio is first mentioned in 1244 as ''Novagio''. Graves found in Pazz and Traversagna suggest a nearby Iron Age settlement. In the Early Middle Ages the monastery of S. Abbondio of Como owned property in the village, while the Como Cathedral owned a farm and mill near Novaggio. In 1294, the Humiliati monastery of Astano owned a house and property in the village. At that time Novaggio, Curio, Switzerland, Curio, Banco and Bedigliora formed a ''Vogt (Switzerland), kastlanei''. Curio, Switzerland
Curio is a former municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 6 April 2025, the former municipalities of Astano, Bedigliora, Curio, Miglieglia and Novaggio merged to form the new municipality of Lema. History Curio is first mentioned in 1196 as ''Coira''. In 1298 it was mentioned as ''Cuyri''. During the Middle Ages Curio, Novaggio, Banco and Bedigliora formed a '' Kastlanei''. The first village church, consecrated to St. Peter, was mentioned in 1352. The present church was built in 1609. Historically, many residents emigrated to foreign countries for work. Some of these emigrant families became quite famous. Miglieglia
Miglieglia (; ) is a former municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 6 April 2025, the former municipalities of Astano, Bedigliora, Curio, Miglieglia and Novaggio merged to form the new municipality of Lema. History Numerous, but inconclusive archaeological findings indicate that there may have been a Roman era settlement near the current municipality. On a promontory overlooking the river Magliasina are the ruins known as ''Castello di Miglieglia''. These ruins were interpreted as remnants of an extensive fortification from the late Classical period. Although is in not confirmed archaeologically, it is likely that the ruins are the remains of a fortified refuge, which was destroyed by the Milanese in 1156 during the conquest of the Diocese of Como. Aranno
Aranno is a municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. Bordering municipalities are Cademario, Iseo, Alto Malcantone, Miglieglia and Novaggio. In Aranno you can find the "Maglio", the last power hammer of Switzerland. It stopped its activities in 1952. History Aranno is first mentioned in 1335 as ''Arano''. Galena
Galena, also called lead glance, is the natural mineral form of lead(II) sulfide (PbS). It is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver. Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfide minerals. It crystallizes in the Cubic (crystal system), cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms. Elections to the Swiss Federal Assembly, the federal parliament of Switzerland, were held on Sunday, 21 October 2007.
