Nova Generatsiia
Nova Generatsiia (Ukrainian: Нова ґенерація), meaning "New Generation" in English, was a Ukrainian futurist magazine. The magazine was edited by Mykhailo Semenko ( uk) and was published between October 1927 and December 1930 in Kharkiv. The magazine was the official organ of a group of Ukrainian futurists also led by Semenko who took their name from the magazine and believed that the end of bourgeois art and a period of destruction were necessary to bring about an age of synthesis and the creation of an altogether new and revolutionary form of art. Content The goal of Nova Generatsiia was to promote avant-garde art to the general public of Ukraine. Although Nova Generatsiia was mostly an outlet for the literary works of the futurists (the majority works featured were poetry or prose), the magazine also placed a special emphasis on architecture, design, and city planning, following European and especially German developments in these areas very closely. Ukrainian Language
Ukrainian ( uk, украї́нська мо́ва, translit=ukrainska mova, label=native name, ) is an East Slavic language of the Indo-European language family. It is the native language of about 40 million people and the official state language of Ukraine in Eastern Europe. Written Ukrainian uses the Ukrainian alphabet, a variant of the Cyrillic script. Futurists (also known as futurologists, prospectivists, foresight practitioners and horizon scanners) are people whose specialty or interest is futurology or the attempt to systematically explore predictions and possibilities about the future and how they can emerge from the present, whether that of human society in particular or of life on Earth in general. Mykhaylo Semenko
Mykhaylo Vasyliovich Semenko ( uk, Миха́йло Васи́льович Семе́нко; 31 December 1892 – 23 October 1937) was a Ukrainian poet, and a prominent representative of Ukrainian futurist poetry of the 1920s. He is considered to be one of the lead figures of the Executed Renaissance. He was a founder of futurist groups Aspanfut, Komunkult, Nova Generatsiya, and Kverofuturism, better known in English as " Panfuturism". He was an editor in couple of almanacs and the journal "Nova generatsiya". As a poet Semenko wrote primarily for urban audiences. Semenko was an active participant of the movement that sought to break with the official Soviet cultural policy at the onset of the 20th century. His dissident art led him to establish avant-garde groups in Kyiv and Kharkiv. He established these futurist groups as an alternative to Russian Cubo-Futurism.
