Notre-Dame-des-Pins
Notre-Dame-des-Pins () is a parish municipality in the Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. Its population is 1,812 as of the Canada 2021 Census. Notre-Dame-des-Pins is known for its covered bridge crossing the Chaudière River. Built in 1928 and opened in 1929, it is 146 m long. It is the longest of its kind in Quebec and the second longest in Canada. Toponymy When the municipality was founded, in 1926, the original name was Notre-Dame-de-la-Providence. Since the name never really established itself in local usage, it was changed to Notre-Dame-des-Pins in 1978. Beauce-Sartigan is a regional county municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. The county seat is Saint-Georges. The Chaudière River flows through it. It shares its eastern border with Maine, United States. The name of the RCM is linked to the historical region of which it is part, Beauce. Sartigan is a distortion of ''Mechatigan'' (or ''Msakkikhan''), the name given to the Chaudière River by the native Abenakis. Saint-Georges, Quebec
Saint-Georges () is a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the seat of Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality, part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region. The population was 32,935 as of the Canada 2021 Census. Route 173 runs through Saint-Georges Est (where it is known as Boulevard Lacroix) and heads south to the border with Maine, United States. The name of the parish and of the city, Saint-Georges, is in homage to George Pozer, the fourth ''seigneur'' of Aubert-Gallion. The Beauce-Etchemin School Board (''Commission scolaire de la Beauce-Etchemin'') has its headquarters on 118th Street. Saint-Georges is home to the Cégep Beauce-Appalaches. Beauceville () is a city in, and the seat of, the Municipalité régionale de comté Beauce-Centre in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population was 6,185 as of the Canada 2021 Census. Beauceville's new constitution dates from 1998, when it amalgamated with Saint-François-Ouest and Saint-François-de-Beauce. A covered bridge is a timber-truss bridge with a roof, decking, and siding, which in most covered bridges create an almost complete enclosure. The purpose of the covering is to protect the wooden structural members from the weather.
