In Excess (April 8, 1987 – May 17, 2013) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who competed in England and in the United States. Background In Excess was a bay horse bred in Ireland by his owner Ahmed Fustok. He was sired by Siberian Express, a multiple Group One winner in France. In Excess was conditioned for racing in England by Bill O'Gorman. Racing career On his debut, In Excess won the October 5, 1989, EBF Sleeping Partner Maiden Stakes at Lingfield Park Racecourse. A graded stakes race is a thoroughbred horse race in the United States that meets the criteria of the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). A specific grade level (I, II, III or listed) is then assigned to the race, based on statistical analysis of the quality of the field in previous years, provided the race meets the minimum purse criteria for the grade in question. In Canada, a similar grading system is maintained by the Jockey Club of Canada. Graded stakes races are similar to Group races in Europe but the grading is more dynamic in North America. Joe Bravo (born September 10, 1971) is an American jockey in Thoroughbred horse race, thoroughbred horse racing. The son and grandson of jockeys, he began his professional career in Thoroughbred flat racing at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens, Florida, at the latter end of 1988. Nicknamed "Jersey Joe", Bravo has won 22 riding titles in his career at racetracks in New Jersey—13 at Monmouth Park Racetrack, Monmouth Park and nine at the Meadowlands Racetrack, Meadowlands. The Florida Derby is an American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old horses held annually at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Since 2005, it has been run five weeks before the Kentucky Derby, which is held on the first Saturday in May. Robby J. Albarado (born September 11, 1973) is an American Thoroughbred horse racing jockey. He began riding at the age of 10 and progressed to riding at bush tracks in his native Louisiana by the age of 12. After turning professional, he earned his first official win at Evangeline Downs in 1990. Fair Grounds Race Course, often known as New Orleans Fair Grounds, is a thoroughbred racetrack and racino in New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana.
