Nosher Powell
George Frederick Bernard Powell (15 August 1928 – 20 April 2013), credited as Nosher Powell, Freddie Powell, or Fred Powell, was an English actor, stuntman and boxer. He is best known for his work in the ''James Bond'' film series, most notably '' From Russia with Love'' (1963). Life and career Powell was born in Camberwell, London, England. His younger brother, Dinny Powell (Dennis Powell, born 1932 in Camberwell) followed a similar career, acting and stunt co-ordinating many films, as have his sons Greg Powell and Gary Powell. Powell was given the nickname of "Nosher" while he served in the army. "Nosh" means food in Cockney slang and was given to Powell due to his large physique. He disliked his birth name Frederick or Freddie and chose to use Nosher Powell as his screen name. It Ain't Half Hot Mum
''It Ain't Half Hot, Mum'' is a BBC television sitcom about a Royal Artillery concert party based in Deolali in British India and the fictional village of Tin Min in Burma, during the last months of the Second World War. It was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, who had both served in similar roles in India during that war. Fifty-six episodes were broadcast across eight series on BBC1 between 1974 and 1981. Each episode ran for thirty minutes. The title comes from the first episode, in which young Gunner Parkin ( Christopher Mitchell) writes home to his mother in England. In 1975, a recording of "Whispering Grass" performed by Don Estelle and Windsor Davies in character as Gunner "Lofty" Sugden and Sergeant Major Williams, reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and remained there for three weeks. Noshir S. Contractor is an Indian-American network scientist who is the Jane S. & William J. White Professor of Behavioral Sciences in the McCormick School of Engineering & Applied Science, the School of Communication and the Kellogg School of Management and the director of the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Research Group at Northwestern University. Noshir Mehta
Naushir Mehta, also spelled as Noshir Mehta, is a former Indian first-class cricketer who played for Hyderabad as an off break bowler between 1967/68 and 1976/77. In 2014, he completed 50 years in his playing career. Career Mehta started as a fast bowler before he switched to bowling right-arm off break. Having started playing cricket at the age of 16 in 1964 for Secunderabad Union Cricket Club, Mehta represented Hyderabad at the first-class level for ten seasons starting from 1967/68. His father Sorabji Mehta, who played first-class cricket for Hyderabad and Parsees in the 1930s and 1940s, was also the chairman of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Mehta and Mumtaz Hussain formed a successful spin pair for Hyderabad in the early 1970s.
