Norwegian International
The Norwegian International in badminton is an international open held in Norway Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic countries, Nordic country located on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. The remote Arctic island of Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard also form part of the Kingdom of ... since 1954. In the first years only the pure man disciplines were played, but since 1959 women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles were also played. In 1957, 1962, 1966, 1974, 1979 and 1990 the championships were halted. It is currently one of the tournaments on the European Badminton Circuit. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a Yard (land), yard or on a beach; professional games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the other team's half of the court, within the set boundaries. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or ground, or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. Ingemar Eliasson (badminton)
Elis Ingemar Eliasson (born 30 March 1939) is a Swedish Liberal People's Party politician with a long and diverse career, having served as government minister, county governor, member of the Parliament and royal court official. Early life Ingemar Eliasson was born in the village of Visnums-Kils, in Värmland County's Kristinehamn Municipality. He holds a Master of Science in business and economics. Career In 1976, Eliasson became Undersecretary of State, and served as such until 1980, when he became minister for employment. Following a career as member of the Parliament from 1982 where he was parliamentary leader of the Liberal People's Party from 1985 until 1990. Svend Pri (earlier Svend Andersen; March 18, 1945 – June 8, 1983) was a Danish badminton player who won numerous major titles from the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s. Career His play was marked by great power, tenacity, and tactical astuteness. Pri competed in badminton at the 1972 Summer Olympics, where badminton was played as a demonstration sport. In men's singles he was defeated in the final by Rudy Hartono 15–6, 15–1. In mixed doubles he played together with Ulla Strand and they were beaten in the final by Derek Talbot and Gillian Gilks 15–6, 18–16. An excellent three event (singles, doubles, mixed doubles) player, the high points of his career were probably two dramatic singles victories over the iconic Rudy Hartono, one in the Challenge Round of Thomas Cup (Denmark v. Tom Bacher (born 16 November 1941) was a former Danish badminton player. He was a Danish international from the mid 1960s until the mid 1970s. His greatest achievement was winning the 1970 All England Badminton Championships doubles title with Poul Petersen.
