PNB Banka
PNB Banka (previously Norvik Banka) was one of the oldest commercial banks in Latvia. The bank was established on 29 April 1992 and the majority of the firm was owned by Russian businessman Grigory Guselnikov. History The bank had a network of branches and sales points in Latvia, however was not able to follow prudential requirements and was recognized as a "bank likely to fail" by ECB on 15 August 2019. Latvian Regulator took sufficient actions and stopped all the transactions, in order to prevent fund flow outside the bank. ''PNB Banka'' was the 6th largest bank in Latvia by assets. The bank provided an array of various banking services to a wide range of customers from natural persons to international industrial enterprises. Erling Johannes Norvik (27 April 1899–27 November 1964) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He was a member of the Norwegian Parliament and was briefly the acting County Governor of Finnmark county from September 1945 until November 1945 at the end of World War II. Personal life He was born to Peder Norvik and Lea Margrethe Hansen on 27 April 1899 in Trondenes in Nordland county, Norway. He was married to Andrea Esbensen. Erling Norvik is their son. Harald Norvik (born 21 June 1946 in Vadsø) is a former chairman, president, and chief executive of Norwegian oil firm Statoil, a former chairman of telecommunications company Telenor and a director of ConocoPhillips. Norvik received his Master of Science Degree in Business from the Norwegian School of Economics. Between 1979 and 1981 he served as personal secretary to the Prime Minister of Norway, Odvar Nordli, and also as State Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. James Walter McFarlane (12 December 1920, Sunderland – 9 August 1999, Stody, Norfolk) was a scholar of European literature, author of ''The Oxford Ibsen'', and founding Dean of the School of European Studies at University of East Anglia which included Scandinavian studies. Early years McFarlane grew up in Sunderland and attended Bede Grammar School, and then went to St Catherine's College, Oxford. His Oxford degree in modern languages, interrupted by war while he served in Europe in the Intelligence Corps, was completed in 1947. During the war he played association football for Sunderland A.F.C.
