Northside Drive
Northside Drive is a road in Atlanta which begins on Whitehall Street in Castleberry Hill just north of Interstate 20 (I-20), and ends by abruptly turning right near the Chattahoochee River in Sandy Springs near Riverwood High School, at which point it becomes Heards Ferry Road. Parts of the road are designated as US 19/US 29/ US 41/ SR 3. Route description Its southern endpoint is located just east of Morehouse College, then travels north from there, passing by Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Next, it passes by the west side of Georgia Tech, followed by the Atlanta IKEA. After crossing I-75 at an interchange which was the site of the Bluffton University bus accident in 2007. One-way Traffic
One-way traffic (or uni-directional traffic) is traffic that moves in a single direction. A one-way street is a street either facilitating only one-way traffic, or designed to direct vehicles to move in one direction. One-way streets typically result in higher traffic flow as drivers may avoid encountering oncoming traffic or turns through oncoming traffic. Residents may dislike one-way streets due to the circuitous route required to get to a specific destination, and the potential for higher speeds adversely affecting pedestrian safety. Some studies even challenge the original motivation for one-way streets, in that the circuitous routes negate the claimed higher speeds. Interstate 285 (Georgia)
Interstate 285 (I-285) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway encircling Atlanta, Georgia, for . It connects the three major Interstate Highways to Atlanta: I-20, I-75, and I-85. Colloquially referred to as the Perimeter, it also carries unsigned State Route 407 (SR 407) and is signed as Atlanta Bypass on I-20, I-75, and I-85. Because of suburban sprawl, it is estimated that more than two million people use the highway each day, making it the one of the busiest Interstates in the Atlanta metropolitan area, and one of the most heavily traveled roadways in the US. Holy Spirit Preparatory School
Holy Spirit Preparatory School (abbreviated HSP) is an independent, Roman Catholic preparatory school located in Atlanta and Sandy Springs, Georgia. It was originally established in 1996 as Donnellan School. Location and administration Pre-K4 through 7th grade are located on a multi-acre site at 4820 Long Island Drive. The preschool program is located at 4465 Northside Drive on the lower level of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, adjacent to the Upper School campus, which opened in the fall of 2005. The elementary campus is in Sandy Springs while the preschool and upper school are in Atlanta. Although an independent Catholic school, it is closely tied to Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Pace's Ferry
Through much of the 19th century, Pace's Ferry was an important ferry across the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta. Started in the early 1830s near Peachtree Creek, it was run by Hardy Pace, one of the city's founders. It was an important transportation link to northwestern Georgia, especially prior to the construction of the State Road (the Western & Atlantic Railroad) to Chattanooga. In Vinings (formerly Paces), Pace's Mill was a gristmill begun by Hardy Pace, founded to diversify his holdings after the railroad was built. The short Paces Mill Road still exists today. Just across the river is Paces, the northwesternmost neighborhood of Atlanta. During the Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War, the Battle of Pace's Ferry was fought July 5, 1864. North Atlanta High School
North Atlanta High School is a comprehensive public high school of approximately 1,800 students in the Paces neighborhood of the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The school is a part of Atlanta Public Schools (APS). The school was formed after North Fulton High School combined with Northside High School during the 1991–1992 school year. This merger resulted in North Atlanta High School being the only high school in APS to host two magnet programs: the International Studies Program and the Performance Arts. Bluffton University Bus Accident
The Bluffton University bus crash was an automobile crash that occurred during the early morning hours of March 2, 2007, on Interstate 75 in Atlanta, Georgia. A chartered motorcoach was carrying 33 members of the Bluffton University baseball team from Bluffton, Ohio, on their way to play Eastern Mennonite University during spring break in Sarasota, Florida. The group planned to travel without an overnight stop on the approximately 900-mile, 18-hour trip. The trip went without incident from Bluffton south to a motel in Adairsville, Georgia, at which time a relief driver began operating the bus for the second half of the trip. Interstate 75 In Georgia
Interstate 75 (I-75) in the US state of Georgia travels north–south along the U.S. Route 41 (US 41) corridor in the central part of the state, traveling through the cities of Valdosta, Macon, and Atlanta. It is also designated—but not signed—as State Route 401 (SR 401). I-75 is the only Interstate to traverse the full length of the state from north to south, from the flat Atlantic Coastal Plains in southeast Georgia to the rolling mountains of North Georgia. In Downtown Atlanta, I-75 runs concurrently with I-85 as the Downtown Connector. Castleberry Hill
Castleberry Hill is a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, adjacent to and southwest of Downtown Atlanta. It is a federally recognized historic district since 1985 and became a City of Atlanta Landmark District in 2006.
