Northern Rockies
The Northern Rocky Mountains, usually referred to as the Northern Rockies, are a subdivision of the Canadian Rockies comprising the northern half of the Canadian segment of the Rocky Mountains. While their northward limit is easily defined as the Liard River, which is the northward terminus of the whole Rockies, the southward limit is debatable, although the area of Mount Ovington and Monkman Pass is mentioned in some sources, as south from there are the Continental Ranges, which are the main spine of the Rockies forming the boundary between British Columbia and Alberta.''Landforms of British Columbia'', S. Mount Ulysses
Mount Ulysses, is the highest mountain in the Muskwa Ranges of the Northern Rocky Mountains, Northern Canadian Rockies in British Columbia. It and neighbouring peaks are part of a group of names drawing on the epic poetry, epic poem ''The Odyssey'', in which here Odysseus, Ulysses wanders for 10 years before being able to return home to Ithaca, Greece, Ithaca. Located north of the headwaters of the Akie River and to the south of Sikanni Chief Lake, its very high prominence of is relative to Grand Pacific Pass, with its parent peak being an unnamed summit in the Fairweather Range, near Mount Fairweather. Pine Pass
The Pine Pass, in the Hart Ranges of the Canadian Rockies, Northern Rockies of British Columbia, connects the Peace Country of the province's British Columbia Interior, Northeastern Interior. Kakwa Provincial Park And Protected Area
Kakwa Provincial Park and Protected Area is a 170,890 ha provincial park in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. The park preserves the southernmost portion of the Hart Ranges and the northernmost portion of the Continental Ranges. The park also preserves significant marine fossil deposits located in the region. Geography The Kakwa River originates in Kakwa Lake, at the core of the park. It is named for ''Kakwa'', the Cree word for porcupine. The tallest mountains are Mount Sir Alexander (3270 m) and Mount Ida (3189 m). Recreation Fishing in Kakwa Lake is permitted. Snowmobiling is permitted on trails, meadows, and along mountain sides. It is advised that snowmobilers bring extra fuel, for Kakwa Lake is about 100 km from the staging site. Kakwa Provincial Park is also the Northern terminus of the Great Divide Trail, running from the US border at Waterton Lakes National Park to a trailhead on the Walker Creek Forest Service Road. Monkman Provincial Park
Monkman Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, southwest of Tumbler Ridge and northeast of Hansard (railway point), Hansard. Like Monkman Pass, Monkman Lake, Monkman Creek and Monkman Falls, it was named after Alexander Monkman. History By the early 1960s, a strong local interest emerged to create a national park, with a proposed name of Canada Centennial Park. Covering approximately a 100-mile long and 30-mile wide section of the Monkman area, a 1970 report proposed a freeze on further land leases for resources extraction, and the formation of a wilderness park. The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George opposed the plan because of its impact on resource development. In due course, the government banned all off-road vehicular access to prevent ground cover damage. Established in 1981, the park covers 62,867 hectares. The Pioneer Range is a small subdivision range of the Misinchinka Ranges of the Hart Ranges of the Northern Rocky Mountains, Northern Rockies in British Columbia, Canada. Misinchinka Ranges, is the largest subdivision range of the Hart Ranges, of the Northern Rocky Mountains, Northern Rockies in British Columbia, Canada. The boundaries of the Misinchinka Ranges generally lie between the Rocky Mountain Trench to the west, Clearwater Creek and the Sukunka River to the east, the Peace Arm of Williston Lake, Williston Reservoir to the north and Monkman Provincial Park to the south.
