Northern Blues
The Northern Bullants are a semi-professional Australian rules football club that currently competes in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club, which is based in the Melbourne suburb of Preston, plays its home games at Preston City Oval. The club was established in 1882 as the Preston Football Club, the name which the club is still legally registered under. The club participated in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) between 1903 and 1911, and then since 1926. After World War II, the club was known as the Bullants, and wore a plain red guernsey with a white monogram. The club later became the Northern Bullants. It was affiliated with the Carlton Blues in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 2003 to 2020, and from 2012 until 2020, the club adopted the colours and nickname of its AFL affiliate to become the Northern Blues. Australian Football League Reserves Affiliations
The Australian Football League stages the highest-level senior Australian rules football competition in the country. However, there has not been a league-wide reserves competition since 1987, when the then-Victorian Football League expanded interstate to become the modern Australian Football League, with the AFL reserves competition being shut down at the end of the 1999 season. Since that time, AFL-listed players who have not been selected in their senior teams are made eligible to play in one of three state leagues: the Victorian Football League, the South Australian National Football League and the West Australian Football League. Reserve Team
In sports, a reserve team is a team composed of players who are under contract to a club but who do not regularly play in matches for the club's primary team. The Preston Districts Football Club, also known as the Preston District Football Club, was an Australian rules football club based in the Melbourne suburb of Preston. The Northcote Football Club (/ˈnoːθ.kət/), nicknamed the Dragons, was an Australian rules football club which played in the VFA from 1908 until 1987. The club's colours for most of its time in the VFA were green and yellow, and it was based in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote. Preston City Oval (PCO), also known by naming rights sponsorship as Genis Steel Oval (GSO) and sometimes mistakenly as Genis Street Oval, is an Australian rules football stadium in Cramer Street in Preston, a suburb of Melbourne. Charlie Pannam (footballer, Born 1874)
Charles Henry Pannam (2 October 1874 – 29 October 1952) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League, Victorian Football Association (VFA) between 1894 and 1896 then in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1897 and 1906. The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria, Australia, Victoria. Founded in 1892, it consists of six senior divisions, ranging from Premier to Division 3 in the men's competition and Premier to Division 4 in the women's competition. In addition, the VAFA has under-19s and Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The Preston Bullants Amateur Football Club (Preston AFC or PBAFC), formerly known as the Northern Bullants and later the Northern Blues, is an Australian rules football club based in the Melbourne suburb of Preston. Preston is a separate entity to the Northern Bullants, a club in the Victorian Football League (VFL), however the two clubs share a logo and maintain close links.
