North Scanian Regiment
North Scanian Regiment ( sv, Norra skånska regementet), designation P 6/Fo 14, was a Swedish Army armoured regiment that operated from 1963 to 1994. The unit was based in the Kristianstad Garrison in Kristianstad. The unit was formed in 1963 when North Scanian Infantry Regiment (I 6) was converted from an infantry regiment to and armoured regiment. Blue Brigade (armoured)
Blue Brigade ( sv, Blåa brigaden, PB 6) was an armored brigade within the Swedish Army that operated in various forms from 1949 to 1979. The unit was based in Enköping Garrison in Enköping. History The Blue Brigade was raised in 1949 by the Defence Act of 1948, when the field regiment, Stockholm Infantry Regiment (''Stockholms infanteriregemente'', IR 31) was distributed on the Blue Brigade (PB 6) and the Södermanland Brigade (PB 10). The brigade adopted its name after the original Blue Brigade and thus became Sweden's second active guard brigade after the Yellow Brigade (IB 1). Göta Engineer Regiment
The Göta Engineer Regiment ( sv, Göta ingenjörregemente), designation Ing 2, is a Swedish Army engineer regiment that traces its origins back to the 19th century. It is still in active service, and is currently garrisoned in Eksjö. History The regiment has its origins in the Sapper Battalion raised between 1873 and 1878. The battalion changed its name in 1893 to the Göta Engineer Battalion, and in 1902 to the Göta Engineer Corps, when it gained the designation Ing 2 (2nd Engineer Regiment). The Göta Engineer Corps was upgraded to a regiment in 1963 and was renamed Göta ingenjörregemente. It was then downgraded to a battalion unit again in 1994, but six years later in 2000 it was upgraded to a regiment, and regained its old name. Småland Regiment
The Småland Regiment ( sv, Smålands regemente), designations I 12 and I 12/Fo 17, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. The unit was disbanded as a result of the disarmament policies set forward in the Defence Act of 2000. Kronoberg Regiment
The Kronoberg Regiment ( sv, Kronobergs regemente), designations I 11 and I 11/Fo 16, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was disbanded in 1997. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from Kronoberg County, and it was later garrisoned there. Wendes Artillery Regiment
The Wendes Artillery Regiment ( sv, Wendes artilleriregemente), designation A 3, was a Swedish Army artillery regiment that traced its origins back to the 17th century. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from Scania, where it was garrisoned. The unit was disbanded as a result of the disarmament policies set forward in the Defence Act of 2000. History The regiment has its origins in the Artillery Regiment raised in 1636. That regiment was split into four new regiments in 1794 of which Wendes Artillery Regiment was one. Gotland Regiment
The Gotland Regiment ( sv, Gotlands regemente, P 18) is a Swedish Army armoured regiment which has been active in various forms between 1963–1994 and 2000–2005, when it was disbanded. Södermanland Regiment (armoured)
The Södermanland Regiment ( sv, Södermanlands regemente), designated P 10 or P 3 and P 10/Fo 43, was an armored regiment of the Swedish Army with its roots in the 17th century, and was located in Strängnäs. The regiment was deactivated in 2004 and its assets were funneled into other parts of the military. Its life company was transferred to the Södermanland Group of the Home Guard, making the Södermanland Group the only Home Guard unit with such a company. The Skaraborg Regiment ( sv, Skaraborgs regemente), designation P 4, is a Swedish Army armoured regiment that traces its origins back to the 16th century. Centurion (tank)
The Centurion was the primary British Army main battle tank of the post-World War II period. Defence District
A defence district ( sv, Försvarsområde, Fo) was a military subdivision of the Swedish Armed Forces created in 1914. It was a lower regional level subdivision, usually corresponding to a Swedish county. The commander of a defence district was the Defence District Commander, who usually commanded local defence units, including infantry, engineers, air defence and light artillery, as well as any Home Guard units in the district.
