North Macedonia Men's National Handball Team
The Macedonian national handball team is the national handball team of North Macedonia. The team is run by the Macedonian Handball Federation, the governing body of handball in North Macedonia. Prior to joining the International Handball Federation in 1991 as an independent country, North Macedonia was represented within the Yugoslavia men's national handball team. History *First Handball teams in Macedonia emerged in the second half of the 1940s. Soon Macedonian Handball federation started to organize national championships in big handball −11 players on a soccer field size. By the '60s it was transformed into small handball or indoor handball. Macedonian champions were qualified for federal Yugoslav Championship instead of European cup competitions. The best Macedonian players played for the Federal team of Yugoslavia. The Macedonian Handball Federation (Macedonian language, Macedonian: Ракометна федерација на Македонија;) commonly known by its acronym, RFM, is the national governing body of handball in Republic of North Macedonia, North Macedonia. Its headquarters are in Skopje and it reestablish its membership as a single Republic of the European Handball Federation, EHF and International Handball Federation, IHF in 1993. Skopje ( , ; ; , sq-definite, Shkupi) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. Handball At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's Team handball, handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held from August 10 to August 24, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the men's tournament. The four best teams from each group advanced to the quarterfinal round, 5th and 6th teams in each group are classified 9th-12th by the results of their group matches. The losers of quarterfinal matches competed in the 5th-8th place matches by the same elimination system as the winners of the quarterfinals. Handball at the 1972 Summer Olympics was the second appearance of the sport at the Olympics, returning to the Olympic program after a 36-year absence. The competition was for men only and it was contested by sixteen teams. Format The teams were split into four groups of four teams each. Each team played every other team in its group. The lowest team in group A played the lowest in group B while the lowest in groups C and D played each other. The winners of those games played each other for 13th and 14th places, while the losers played each other for 15th and 16th. 2022 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. The tournament was advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This tournament was the last to feature 16 teams that had been the case since 2002. The top three team qualified for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, 2023 World Championship and the winner will also qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Norway won their ninth title after defeating Denmark in the final. Bronze went to Montenegro, who defeated France at the extra time.
