Athletic Club of Port of Spain (previously known as North East Stars FC) is a Trinidad and Tobago professional football club based in Port of Spain, Trinidad, that plays in the TT Premier Football League. History The team joined the Professional Football League as North East Stars F.C. beginning in the 2002 season, having previously played in Trinidad's ECFU league. The team joined the league with the explicit intention of representing the north-east of Trinidad, previously underrepresented in football circles. The team was terrible in their first season, finishing last in the league with a dismal record of 4 wins, 2 ties, and 22 losses. They improved dramatically in 2003, however, jumping from last to third, as they went 19–7–10. Trinidad And Tobago Classic
The Trinidad and Tobago Classic, or commonly known as the TOYOTA Classic, is a knockout tournament for teams in Trinidad and Tobago's TT Pro League and National Super League. The football competition began in 2005, with TOYOTA as the primary sponsor, and is currently contested each October and November following the Pro League and Super League seasons. The inaugural competition was contested between San Juan Jabloteh and W Connection, with the ''Savonetta Boys'' claiming their first title with a 1–0 win. United Petrotrin claimed the trophy in 2006, as well as, Joe Public capturing their first in 2007. The 2010 Trinidad and Tobago Goal Shield was the second edition of the annual ''Lucozade Sport Goal Shield'', which is a knockout tournament competition for teams in the TT Pro League. W Connection entered as the defending champions after they defeated Defence Force 3–0 in the inaugural tournament. Continuing from the previous season, the competition not only allowed the winner and runner-up healthy purses at the end of the tournament, but more so give an added incentive for more goals to be scored throughout the tournament.
