North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) is an NHS foundation trust which provides mental and community health services. It runs Foxglove Ward, Goodmayes Hospital and Sunflowers Court in Ilford, Phoenix House in Basildon, Heronwood & Galleon Inpatient Facility in Wanstead, Grays Court Community Hospital in Dagenham, and Hawkwell Court in Chingford. Altogether it operates from more than 150 sites. History The trust was established as the North East London Mental Health NHS Trust on 5 June 2000, and became operational on 1 April 2001. It became an NHS foundation trust in 2008. In April 2014 Staff at Hawkwell Court in Colvin Gardens, Chingford planned to shut down the facility, which offers long-term stay for older patients with mental health problems and learning disabilities. Rainham ( ) is a suburb of East London, England, in the London Borough of Havering. Historically an ancient parish in the county of Essex, Rainham is east of Charing Cross and is surrounded by a residential area, which has grown from the historic village, to the north and a commercial area, fronting the River Thames, to the south. An NHS foundation trust is a semi-autonomous organisational unit within the National Health Service (England), National Health Service in England. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom. It was established in 2009 to regulate and inspect health and social care providers in England. Lampard Inquiry
The Lampard Inquiry is a public inquiry ordered by the British Parliament into mental health deaths in Essex, England, particularly circa 2,000 deaths of mental health patients in Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT). It is an upgrade of the previous Independent Inquiry which was upgraded at the request of the Independent Inquiry Chair, Dr. Geraldine Strathdee, who reported to Parliament that, due to the lack of cooperation of EPUT staff, the Inquiry could not continue without statutory powers and the ability to force employees to give evidence. It is chaired by Baroness Lampard who announced a public consultation following which the Terms of Reference were agreed and published. King George Hospital is an NHS hospital located on Barley Lane in the Goodmayes area of Ilford, in the London Borough of Redbridge. The hospital is part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. History The hospital has its origins in the Ilford Emergency Hospital located at Newbury Park on the A12 ''Eastern Avenue'' which was built between 1910 and 1912. It operated as a military hospital during the First World War. The War Memorial Children's Wing, to commemorate lives lost during the war, was completed in 1926. A re-building programme followed and the new facilities were opened by King George V in July 1931. The Baker Memorial Wing was completed in January 1935 and the hospital joined the National Health Service in 1948.
