Norrland Opera
The NorrlandsOperan (), is a Swedish opera company in Umeå, located in Norrland, Sweden. The ownership of NorrlandsOperan is divided between the Umeå Municipality (40%) and the Västerbotten County Council (60%). NorrlandsOperan was established in 1974 as a regional opera ensemble. The NorrlandsOperan's first artistic director was Arnold Östman, from 1974 to 1979. NorrlandsOperan now has its own symphony orchestra and facilities for opera, dance, music and art as well as workshops and studios. History NorrlandsOperan was founded in 1974 as a direct result of Swedish cultural reform the same year. The musical theater group ''Sångens makt'' constituted the core of the newly formed opera ensemble. La Fura dels Baus () is a Spanish theatrical group founded in 1979 in Moià, Barcelona (Spain), known for their urban theatre, use of unusual settings and blurring of the boundaries between audience and actor. "La Fura dels Baus" in Catalan means "The ferret from Els Baus" (Els Baus is a toponym from the birthplace of two of the founders, Moià). Mando Diao is an alternative rock band from Borlänge, Sweden. The band got their breakthrough with the release of the album '' Hurricane Bar''. The Tiger Lillies
The Tiger Lillies are a British musical trio formed in 1989 by singer-songwriter Martyn Jacques. Described as the forefathers of Brechtian Punk Cabaret, the Tiger Lillies are known for their unique sound and style which merges "the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin with the savage edge of punk". History The band's name is rumoured to have been inspired by a murdered Soho sex worker called Lillie who used to dress up in animal print. Jacques, however, has stated that he named the band after a painting he had on his wall. Hjalmar Borgstrøm (; 23 March 1864 – 5 July 1925) was a Norwegian composer and music critic who played a prominent role in the musical life of his country in the first quarter of the 20th century. Biography Borgstrøm was born Hjalmar Jensen on 23 March 1864 in Christiania (now Oslo). His father, Carl Christian Jensen, was a civil servant and the family were keen amateur musicians. Borgstrøm showed an early aptitude for music and by the age of fifteen was a talented violinist. After studying composition and music theory in Oslo with Johan Svendsen and Ludvig Mathias Lindeman, he went to the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany for two years.
