Norpipe
Norpipe is a subsea oil and natural gas pipelines system in the North Sea. It supplies oil from the Norwegian Ekofisk and associated fields in the North Sea to the United Kingdom and natural gas to Germany. Oil pipeline The Norpipe oil pipeline starts at the Ekofisk 2/4-J facility. In addition to Ekofisk (Cod, Ekofisk, West Ekofisk, Tor, Albuskjell, Eldfisk, Edda, and Embla fields) the pipeline carries oil from Valhall, Hod, Gyda, Ula, Tambar, and Oselvar fields in the Norwegian zone, and from several of the UK's oil fields, such as Fulmar and Judy (see table). Ekofisk Oil Field
Ekofisk is an oil field in block 2/4 of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea about southwest of Stavanger. Discovered in 1969 by Phillips Petroleum Company, it remains one of the most important oil fields in the North Sea. This was the first discovery of oil after the drilling of over 200 exploration wells in the North Sea "triggered" by the Groningen gas field discovery. In 1971, Phillips started producing directly to tankers from four subsea wells. Oil production is planned to continue until 2048; concessions given, yet expected to continue beyond 2050. The Greater Ekofisk Area consists of Cod oil gas and condensate field, Ekofisk, West Ekofisk, Tor oil field, Albuskjell oil and gas field, Eldfisk oil and gas field, Embla oil and gas field and the Edda oil and gas field. Europipe I
Europipe I is a natural gas pipeline from the North Sea to Continental Europe. History The feasibility study of the pipeline's project was conducted in 1990. On 20 April 1993, an agreement between Norway and Germany was concluded on the construction of Europipe. The pipeline was commissioned on 1 October 1995 and it cost 21.3 billion NOK. Route The pipeline runs from the Draupner E riser platform in the North Sea to a receiving terminal at Dornum in Germany. At Draupner E, it is connected with Zeepipe and Statpipe/ Norpipe system. From Dornum a land line runs to the metering station in Emden. Technical description The diameter of pipeline is and the capacity is of natural gas. Valhall Oil Field
Valhall is an oil field in the Norway, Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Discovered in 1975, production began in 1982 and is expected to continue until 2050. Valhall is located in 70 metres of water. It produces from chalk in the Tor and Hod Formations of Late Cretaceous age. The reservoir depth is approximately 2,400 metres. Development The field was originally developed with three facilities (QP, DP and PCP) but now the complex consists of five separate steel Oil platform, platforms that are bridge-connected. There are also two unmanned flank platforms, one in the south and one in the north, both around 6 kilometres from the field centre. Gyda Oil Field
Gyda () was an offshore oil field located in the southern Norwegian section of the North Sea, along with the Ula oil field, Ula, Tambar oil field, Tambar and Tambar oil field#Tambar Øst, Tambar East fields making up the UGT area, usually attributed to DONG Energy's main areas of exploration and production activity. Repsol took over the operatorship on behalf of the licence in 2015 upon the acquisition of Talisman Energy's Norwegian assets. Oil production ceased in 2020 and the field was decommissioned in 2021. The Gyda field was discovered in 1980 and started producing on June 21, 1990. The field contains confirmed 39.6 million m3 of oil and 6.6 billion cubic meter of natural gas. Gassco is a Norwegian state owned company that operates of natural gas pipes and associated riser platforms and land-based facilities transporting annually of 100 billion cubic meter (bcm) of natural gas from the Norwegian continental shelf to Continental Europe and Great Britain. 15% of the total consumption of natural gas in Continental Europe is distributed through Gassco. The actual ownership is organised through various licences, with Gassled, being the largest. Gassled is owned by Petoro. Ula () is an offshore oil field located in the southern Norwegian section of North Sea along with Gyda, Tambar and Tambar East fields making up the UGT area, usually attributed to DONG Energy's main areas of exploration and production activity. The Ula field was discovered in 1976 and came online in October 1986. It contains confirmed 69.98 million m3 of oil and 2.5 million of NGL. Fulmar Oilfield
The Fulmar Oilfield is situated 312 km east of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom in block number 30/16 and 30/11b. It is operated by Repsol Sinopec who took over from the previous operator, Shell at the end of 2006. At this time Talisman also purchased the equity of the other partners ExxonMobil and Amerada Hess. The field was discovered in December 1975 by well 30/16-6 in a water depth of 82 metres. Estimated ultimate recovery is 544 million barrels (86.5 m3) of oil. It is named after the fulmar, a sea bird. Gassled is a partnership to own the offshore natural gas transportation infrastructure at the Norwegian continental shelf. Its pipelines are operated by Gassco. Gassled was created in 2002 and it became operational on 1 January 2003. Teesside Refinery
The Teesside Refinery was an oil refinery and chemical plant situated just south of Seaton Carew on the River Tees in County Durham. In 2000, it was bought by Petroplus from ICI and Phillips Petroleum Company. Refining was suspended in 2009, although the site continues to operate as a terminal and storage facility. History In the period 1965-1968, three oil refineries were developed close to Teesport on the River Tees, thanks to the Phillips Petroleum's development of the Ekofisk oil field in the North Sea.
