Norman Taylor (basketball)
Norman Taylor (September 10, 1965November 14, 2020) was an American basketball player who played three seasons in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL) for the Illawarra Hawks. At , he played center for the Hawks. He played college basketball for the Bridgeport Purple Knights, earning All-American honors in 1987. College career Born and raised in New York City, Taylor attended the University of Bridgeport of the NCAA Division II in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He played four seasons of college basketball for the Purple Knights from 1984 to 1988. As a freshman during the 1984–85 season, he was a key component in leading the Purple Knights to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance. During his junior season, Taylor led the Purple Knights with 22.0 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. University Of Bridgeport
The University of Bridgeport (UB) is a private university in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The university is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. In 2021, the university was purchased by Goodwin University; it retain its own name, brand, and board of trustees. Founded originally as the Junior College of Connecticut, it is the only university in Bridgeport and one of the largest in Connecticut. The university offers more than 60 degree programs to over 5,000 students at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. This includes the only naturopathy, Chinese medicine, and chiropractic programs in Connecticut. Woonona () is a northern suburb of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, south of Sydney. It is served by Woonona Station on the South Coast (Illawarra) Line, and by the Princes Highway. The suburb has a strip of commerce along the highway and several historic buildings. It is mostly light-density residential, though some new two-storey buildings have appeared. The 1991 NBL season was the 13th season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 14 teams contested the league. Clubs Regular season The 1991 regular season took place over 24 rounds between 6 April 1991 and 22 September 1991. 1991 saw Melbourne Tigers superstar Andrew Gaze became the first player to score 1,000 points in an NBL regular season. Newcastle Falcons (basketball)
The Newcastle Falcons are a defunct basketball team that competed in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). Based in Newcastle, New South Wales, the team played in the NBL's inaugural season in 1979 but left the league in the late 1990s after new owners based in Albury couldn't resolve the club's ongoing financial problems. History The Falcons hold a special place in the history of the NBL with the club largely responsible for the formation of the league which also saw them organise the first season in 1979. The other clubs had to pay a fee of around AU$300 to the Falcons to participate in that first season and the city of Newcastle is regarded as the birthplace of the NBL.
