Norman Schenz
Norman Schenz (born 1977) is an Austrian journalist and moderator. He was the program director of the radio station Antenne Wien, a founding member of the newspaper Österreich and since 2011 leading society reporter (Austrian German: "Adabei") of the Kronen Zeitung. Career Schenz began in 1998 as a volunteer at the radio station Antenne Wien, founded by Wolfgang Fellner. From 2003 to 2006 he headed the company as program director and moderated numerous programs and events. From 2006 he worked for the daily newspaper Austria, where he worked as a company reporter. His report on the Vienna Opera Ball in 2011 caused a sensation when he flew from Genoa to Vienna with Richard Lugner and his opera ball guest Ruby Rubacuori. She was instrumental in Silvio Berlusconis Ruby affair. At the end of 2011, he moved to the Kronen Zeitung, where he was employed as an Adabei at the Christoph Dichand publishing house. The ''Kronen Zeitung'' (), commonly known as the ''Krone'', is Austria's largest newspaper. It is known for being Eurosceptic. History The first issue of the ''Kronen Zeitung'' appeared on 2 January 1900. Gustav Davis, a former army officer, was the founder. The name referred to the monthly subscription price of one crown (it did not refer to the monarchic crown), recently made possible after the abolition of bureaucratic duties on newspapers (''Zeitungsstempelgebühr'') on 31 December 1899. The monthly subscription price of one crown was maintained until December 1912. The newspaper struggled in its first three years until the 10 June 1903 regicide (as part of the May Coup) of King Aleksandar Obrenović in the neighbouring Kingdom of Serbia, which the paper reported on extensively and made it achieve enormous popularity. The Vienna Opera Ball (German: ''Wiener Opernball'') is an annual Austrian society event which takes place in the building of the Vienna State Opera in Vienna, Austria on the Thursday preceding Ash Wednesday (a religious holiday). Together with the New Year Concert, the ball is one of the highlights of the Viennese carnival season. History The tradition of the ball goes back to 1814 during the time when the crowned heads of Europe and the aristocracy searched for entertainment after the Napoleonic wars. The first ball in the opera house took place in 1877 as a '' soirée''. The following balls were ''redoute'', a French term for masquerade balls or costume parties, where the ladies wore their masks until midnight. Rudolf Kirchschläger, GColIH (; 20 March 1915 – 30 March 2000) was an Austrian diplomat, politician and judge. From 1974 to 1986, he served as the president of Austria. Early life and education Born in Niederkappel, Upper Austria, Kirschläger was orphaned at the age of 11. He graduated from high school in Horn in 1935 with distinction and started to study law at the University of Vienna. However, after the Anschluss of Austria in 1938, he had to give up his studies. Upon refusing to join the NSDAP, his scholarship was revoked and Kirchschläger could not finance his studies any longer. Erik Schinegger (born 19 June 1948) is an Austrian intersexuality, intersex skier. He was the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, women's downhill ski world champion in 1966, at which time he was recognized as female and known as Erika Schinegger. Biography Schinegger was born in Agsdorf, Carinthia (state), Carinthia, and raised as a girl. Schinegger first attracted attention when he finished third in the downhill in Grindelwald on 14 January 1966 with start no. 24 and thus contributed to an ÖSV quadruple success (Christl Haas, Edith Zimmermann; fourth Traudl Hecher).
