Norman Edge
Norman Edge (April 29, 1934 – June 4, 2018) was an American jazz musician who played the double bass. Life and work Edge played in a military band during his military service and then served for several years in the National Guard. During this time, he played with the pianist Morris Nanton, with whom he recorded the album ''Flower Drum Song'' (Warner Bros., with Osie Johnson) in 1958 and worked together regularly over the next 50 years, producing several albums, such as ''Preface'' (1964), ''Something We've Got'' (1965) and ''Soul Fingers'' (1966). He is also on albums by Gene Ammons (''Bad! Bossa Nova'', 1962), ''The Manhattan Brass Choir'' (ABC-Paramount, 1967, with Clark Terry and Urbie Green) and in albums with Sandy Sasso and Nelson Riddle. Edge taught in public schools in Edison, New Jersey and gave private lessons, along with playing in orchestras and jazz bands. Nelson Riddle
Nelson Smock Riddle Jr. (June 1, 1921 – October 6, 1985) was an American arranger, composer, bandleader and orchestrator whose career stretched from the late 1940s to the mid-1980s. He worked with many world-famous vocalists at Capitol Records, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney and Keely Smith. He scored and arranged music for many films and television shows, earning an Academy Award and three Grammy Awards. He found commercial and critical success with a new generation in the 1980s, in a trio of Platinum albums with Linda Ronstadt. Edison is a township located in Middlesex County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Situated in Central New Jersey within the core of the state's Raritan Valley region, Edison is a commercial hub, home to Menlo Park Mall and Little India. It is a bedroom community of New York City within the New York metropolitan area.
