Norma Nolan
Norma Beatriz Nolan (born 22 April 1938) is an Argentine beauty queen who was the first woman from Argentina to win the Miss Universe title. Nolan is of Irish and Italian descent. She was crowned Miss Argentina in 1962 by her predecessor, Adriana Gardiazábal, who was the second runner-up in the previous pageant. Miss Argentina is a national beauty pageant in Argentina, founded in 1928. In 1962, Norma Nolan of Santa Fe became the first, and only, Miss Argentina to win the title of Miss Universe. Currently, the competition is managed by Nadia Cerri, a beauty pageant entrepreneur. History 1928–1937 The Miss Argentina beauty contest was established in 1928 by El Hogar Magazine in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires. The first winner was Túlia Ciámpoli of Cordoba. Marlene Schmidt (born 11 November 1937) is a German control engineer, actress, TV host and beauty queen who won Miss Universe 1961. Born in Breslau, Germany and raised in East Germany, where she earned a master's degree in engineering, in 1960, she and her family fled to Stuttgart in West Germany, where she got a job as an electronics engineer. In 1961, she entered the state pageant of Baden-Württemberg in the hope of winning the car that was offered as prize. From there, she went on to represent her state in the national pageant in Baden-Baden, where she was crowned Miss Germany 1961.
