Green Warriors of Norway (Norwegian (language), Norwegian: Norges Miljøvernforbund, NMF) is a Norway, Norwegian environment (biophysical), environmental non-governmental organization, NGO based in Bergen, Norway. The organization also has offices in Oslo and Tromsø. The organization was led by environmentalist Kurt Oddekalv up until his death in 2021, who founded the organization due to a dispute with Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature from which he later was excluded. The organization operates mainly on local level. It also engages in some general environmental-related work on the national and international level. The topics that NMF work on are environmental issues, youth issues, and protection of buildings and indigenous peoples. Green Warriors of Norway has received substantial funding from Bergen based philanthropist, Trond Mohn. Kurt Oddekalv
Kurt Willy Oddekalv (27 July 1957 – 11 January 2021) was a Norwegian environmentalist. Career He was excluded from Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature after a vote at the Annual gathering meeting in 1993. As a result of this he created his own environmental organization Green Warriors of Norway of which he was the leader until his death. Oddekalv was the leader of Norges Miljøvernforbund (Norway's Environment Association), and wanted to persecute Sámi reindeer herders on grounds of allowing a number of reindeer to die during the intense winter of 1996-1997. He stated that it was a myth that the Sámi were living harmoniously with nature, but instead that they were destroying the tundra of Finnmark. Catamaran
A catamaran () (informally, a "cat") is a watercraft with two parallel hull (watercraft), hulls of equal size. The wide distance between a catamaran's hulls imparts stability through resistance to rolling and overturning; no ballast is required. Trond Mohn
Trond Mohn (born 3 April 1943) is a Norwegian billionaire businessman and philanthropist. He is the owner and chief executive officer (CEO) of the family-owned company Frank Mohn AS. Early life Trond Mohn is the son of Frank Mohn (1916–2002) and Eva Wigum (1920–1982). Mohn earned a degree in economics at the University of Mannheim, Germany in 1970. Career He returned to Bergen to work for the family company, and became CEO in January 1986. He is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Korea in Norway. Philanthropy Mohn has made numerous donations for sports, medicine and research, primarily in Bergen but also in Tromsø and Haugesund/Karmøy. ''Telemarksavisa'' is a Norwegian newspaper, published in Skien in Telemark county. ''Telemark Arbeiderblad'' was started on 1 October 1921 as a reaction to the perceived moderate stance of Skien's labour newspaper '' Bratsberg Demokraten''. However, ''Telemark Arbeiderblad'' was not published out of Telemark, but out of Larvik, Vestfold. From 1 January 1922 it was published out of Drammen, Buskerud under the auspices of '' Fremtiden''. It changed its name to ''Telemark Social-Demokrat'' in August 1922, went defunct in March 1923 but was revived in November 1923—this time in Notodden in Telemark. The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature (, NNV), also known as Friends of the Earth Norway, is one of the largest Norwegian environmental organisations with approximately 24,000 members. The organisation is based on a volunteer work among the members, constituting work both at local and national levels. Norges Naturvernforbund works within a large range of environmental areas.
