It was founded on 22 November 1992 as a merger of the football sections of the clubs IL Nordkyn from Kjøllefjord and Mehamn IL. The club colors are red. Mehamn (; ) is the administrative centre of Gamvik Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on the small Vedvik peninsula, itself part of the greater Nordkinn Peninsula, at the southern end of the Mehamnfjorden, a bay off of the Barents Sea. The village of Gamvik lies about to the east and the village of Kjøllefjord (in Lebesby Municipality) lies about to the southwest. Mehamn Chapel is located in this village. The village has a population (2023) of 703 which gives the village a population density of . History Whaling Svend Foyn established the whaling station in Mehamn that was built in 1884-1885. Norwegian Fourth Division
The Norwegian Fourth Division, also called 4. divisjon, is the fifth highest division of the men's football league in Norway. Like the rest of the Norwegian football league system, the season runs from spring to autumn, running approximately from April to October. In 2019, it was decided that not all 24 group winners would promote to 3. divisjon. A play-off system was established and the number of teams promoting from 4. divisjon was reduced to 18. Since the 2017 season, 4. divisjon teams have been eligible to qualify for the Norwegian Cup. Ahead of the 2020 season, the number of groups were reduced to 22. Like in the rest of the Norwegian football league system, all the teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The village is located on the northwestern part of the Nordkinn Peninsula, on the shore of a small fjord which empties into the larger Laksefjorden. The Norwegian Third Division, also called Norsk Tipping-Ligaen, is the fourth highest division of the men's football league in Norway. Like the rest of the Norwegian football league system, the season runs from spring to autumn, running approximately from April to October. After the 2010 season, the league was reorganised, reducing the number of teams to 164 and halving the number of parallel sections from 24 to 12.
