Nordic Pavilion
The Nordic Pavilion houses the national representation of the Nordic countries Sweden, Norway, and Finland during the Venice Biennale arts festivals. Background Organization and building The pavilion, designed by Sverre Fehn, was built between 1958 and 1962. The open space was designed to let in light reminiscent of that of Nordic countries. Fredrik Fogh extended the building in 1987. The cooperation between Finland, Norway and Sweden in Venice was initiated in 1962 after the completion of the Nordic Pavilion. Until 1984, the representation of each country was organized nationally. From 1986 to 2009 the pavilion was commissioned as a whole, with the curatorial responsibility alternating between the collaborating countries. Between 2011 and 2015, Sweden, Finland, and Norway took turns curating the pavilion alone. In 2017, they began joint curation again. Ola Billgren

Mamma Andersson
Mamma Andersson (born 1962) is a Swedish contemporary artist. She is based in Stockholm and is married to artist Jockum Nordström. Biography Born Anna Karin Andersson, she drew and painted from an early age without any family members being interested in art. Andersson's birthplace and childhood home of Luleå is in North Sweden, near the Polar circle. She studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and her nickname Mamma ("Mother") was added at that time to differentiate herself from another student with the same name. Eija-Liisa Ahtila
Eija-Liisa Ahtila (born 1959 in Hämeenlinna, Finland) is a contemporary visual artist and filmmaker who lives and works in Helsinki. Ahtila is most known for her multi-panel cinematic installations. She experiments with narrative storytelling in her films and cinematic installations. In her earlier works, she dealt with the topic of unsettling human dramas at the center of personal relationships, dealing with teenage sexuality, family relationships, mental disintegration, and death. Mariko Mori
is a Japanese multidisciplinary artist. She is known for her photographs and videos of her hybridized future self, often presented in various guises and featuring traditional Japanese motifs. Her work often explores themes of technology, spirituality and transcendence. In 2010, she founded the Faou Foundation, an art nonprofit based in New York City. Mark Dion
Mark Dion (born August 28, 1961) is an American conceptual artist best known for his use of scientific presentations in his installations. His work examines the manner in which prevalent ideologies and institutions influence our understanding of history, knowledge and the natural world. The job of the artist, according to him, is to "go against the grain of dominant culture, to challenge perception and convention." Lars Nittve (born 17 September 1953) is a Swedish museum director, curator, art critic and writer. He was the founding Director of Tate Modern in London; former Director of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm; the founding Director of Rooseum – Center for Contemporary Art – in Malmö, Sweden; and Director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark. Per Inge Bjørlo (born 20 November 1952, in Ålesund) is a Norwegian sculptor, painter, graphic designer and visual artist. He grew up in Spjelkavik outside Ålesund, and is now living in Hønefoss. He graduated from Bergen Academy of Art and Design in Bergen (1974–1977) and the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo (1977–1981). He received the Swedish Prince Eugen Medal in 2012. Bård Breivik (23 November 1948 – 10 January 2016) was a Norwegian sculptor and art instructor. Biography He was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the son of Thomas Breivik and Sissel Søyland. His father Thomas Breivik (1923-1999) was a notable painter, graphics artist and art instructor. Following his parents divorce in 1951, he was raised by his mother in Laksevåg. He was educated at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design (''Bergen Kunsthåndverkskole'' and ''Vestlandets Kunstakademi'') and St. Martin's School of Art in London.
