Norderstedt () is a city in Germany and part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region (), the fourth largest city (with approximately 84,100 inhabitants as of 2023) in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, belonging to the Segeberg district. History Norderstedt was created by the merger of four villages on 1 January 1970: the villages of Friedrichsgabe and Garstedt, both belonging to the Pinneberg district, and the villages of Glashütte and Harksheide, both belonging to the Stormarn district. The newly created city was assigned to the Segeberg district. Location The city hall of Norderstedt is located at . Norderstedt is the southernmost city of Segeberg district, bordering with Hamburg in the south and forms part of Hamburg agglomeration. Hamburg U-Bahn
The Hamburg U-Bahn is a rapid transit system serving the cities of Hamburg, Norderstedt, and Ahrensburg in Germany. Although referred to by the term U-Bahn (the "U" commonly being understood as standing for "underground"), most of the system's track length is above ground. The network is interconnected with the city's S-Bahn system, which also has underground sections. It is operated by Hamburger Hochbahn within the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV). It was opened in February 1912, and comprises four lines serving 93 stations, with a route length of in 2019. AKN Eisenbahn GmbH operates railway lines, commuter trains and freight trains in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Its headquarters is in Kaltenkirchen. Norderstedt Mitte (Hamburg U-Bahn Station)
Norderstedt Mitte station is a railway station in Norderstedt, Germany. It is a terminus for the rapid transit trains of the line U1 of the Hamburg U-Bahn and connects the underground railway with the commuter trains of the AKN railway company line A2 ( Alster Northern Railway). Station layout The terminus of the U1 is an island platform with the bay platform for changing to the commuter trains of the A2. The platform is partly underground and partly open sub level. There are stairs and escalators to the bus station, and, with a lift and special floor design the station is fully accessible for handicapped people in a wheelchair or blind persons. There are no station personnel but there are ticket machines, CCTV, and an emergency call and information telephone. Richtweg (Hamburg U-Bahn Station)
Richtweg is a public transport station for the rapid transit trains of Hamburg's underground railway line U1, located in Norderstedt, Germany. It was opened in 1953 as a stop of the Alster Northern Railway (ANB) from Ulzburg Süd to Ochsenzoll with an island platform. Uwe Seeler
Uwe Seeler (; 5 November 1936 – 21 July 2022) was a German Association football, footballer and football official. As a Striker (association football), striker, he was a prolific scorer for Hamburger SV and also made 72 appearances for the Germany national football team, West Germany national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in German football history, Seeler was named one of FIFA 100, FIFA's 100 greatest living players by Pelé in 2004. He was the first football player to be awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Garstedt is an underground station on the Hamburg U-Bahn line U 1. It was opened in June 1969 and is located in Norderstedt, Germany, in the borough of Garstedt, which was an independent municipality to the end of 1969. History Construction works for the station began in 1967, and it was opened in June 1969, after U-Bahn tracks of the Langenhorn railway had been extended to Garstedt. This was done in accordance with an agreement between the city of Hamburg and the former Garstedt municipality. Elke Christina Roeder (born November 27, 1966, in Simmern/Hunsrück) is a German politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 2018 to 2024 she was Lord Mayor of the city of Norderstedt, which borders Hamburg. Life Roeder was born on November 27, 1966, in Simmern/Hunsrück and grew up in Wentorf bei Hamburg. She is a trained jurist and qualified bank clerk. She completed her law studies at the Leibniz University Hannover. She was mayor of Bad Pyrmont from 2006 to 2014. On October 18, 2011, she joined the SPD. The SPD had already supported her mayoral candidacy in 2006. In addition, she was chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Bad Pyrmont. Segeberg
Segeberg (; ) is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the southwest and clockwise) the districts of Pinneberg, Steinburg and Rendsburg-Eckernförde, the city of Neumünster, the districts of Plön, Ostholstein and Stormarn, and the city state of Hamburg. Stormarn () is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Segeberg and Ostholstein, the city of Lübeck, the district of Lauenburg, and the city-state of Hamburg. History In medieval times the name Stormarn was applied to a larger area, of which the present-day district is only the eastern half. It was the home of the Saxon tribe the Sturmarii. Stormarn became a part of Holstein in the 12th century. When Schleswig-Holstein became a province of Prussia in 1867, the Prussian administration established the district of Stormarn, with Wandsbek as its capital. In 1937 the southwestern part of the district was incorporated into Hamburg, and the district lost half of its population. Since Wandsbek was now a borough of Hamburg, the capital was moved to Bad Oldesloe after the war. Oliver Bendt (born Jörg Knoch on 29 October 1946 in Potsdam) is a German singer and actor. Knoch grew up the son of an actress in Munich, where he played children's roles in several films, including ''Königswalzer (1955 film), Königswalzer'' (1955) and ''Weil du arm bist, musst du früher sterben'' (1956).
