Norberg Municipality
Norberg Municipality (''Norbergs kommun'') is a municipality in Västmanland County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Norberg. History The area, located within Bergslagen, the mining district of central Sweden, has historically been a mining area directed at iron. In the 1970s, archeological finds traced the blast furnace in Lapphyttan to the 12th century, predating the earlier known with 300 years. In the 1390s, Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson was born on a farm outside the town Norberg. He was later to lead notable freedom-rebellions in 1434 against the King. The coat of arms was created in 1948, and was formally granted and registered as a municipal arms with the municipal reform of 1971. Norbergfestival is a Scandinavian electronic and experimental music festival held in Norberg, Västmanland, Sweden. The festival was started in 1999 by Michael Østerz Christiansen and Dag Celsing. The event attracts people of different ages and most visitors come from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, UK or Germany History There are four main stages on the festival, the first of which is ''Mimer'' with a staggering reverb of more than 7 seconds; concrete and steel structures are the raw surroundings. ''Kraftwerk'' is the old power plant, where the clubbing and dancing atmosphere is intense. ''Krossverket'' hosts more intimate concerts and performance art. 303 is the official underground stage. Norbergite is a nesosilicate mineral with formula Mg3( Si O4)( F, OH)2. It is a member of the humite group. Kärrgruvan is the name of the northern part of the locality Norberg, located in Norberg Municipality in northwestern Västmanland, Sweden. The locality is mainly famous for its history of industrial mining which lasted for more than 800 years. Etymology Just like in many other parts of Norberg, Kärrgruvan has quite many open-pit mines in the nature. The name Kärrgruvan comes from a small open-pit mine with the same name and can be translated as "the marsh mine" or "the swamp mine".
