Nora Achahbar
Nora Achahbar (; born 21 June 1982) is a Dutch jurist, judge and politician of the New Social Contract (NSC) party. She served as State Secretary for Benefits and Customs in the Schoof cabinet between July and November 2024. Early life and career Achahbar was born in Sidi Slimane, Morocco. Her father moved to the Netherlands as a guest worker aged 18, working as a cook in The Hague. Achahbar grew up at the edge of its neighborhood, and she described her childhood in poverty in an interview to ''Trouw''. She graduated high school with a VWO diploma and went on to study Dutch law at Leiden University. She was an intern for the parliamentary group of Democrats 66 and the , and she subsequently worked as a judge ad hoc in a Haarlem court, a police detective in Leiden, and a lawyer. Sidi Slimane () is a small city in the northwestern centre of Morocco in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra economic region. It is the administrative headquarters for Sidi Slimane Province and is located between the major cities of Kenitra and Meknes. Democrats 66 (; D66) is a social liberal and progressive political party in the Netherlands, which is positioned on the centre to centre-left of the political spectrum. It is a member of the Liberal International (LI) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). The name of the party refers to its year of foundation, 1966. Initially, its main objective had been to democratise the Dutch political system, but it developed a broader social liberal ideology over time. The Party for Freedom ( , PVV) is a right-wing populist, far-right political party in the Netherlands. Geert Wilders is the founder, party leader, and sole registered member of the party. Founded in 2006 as the successor to Wilders' one-man group in the House of Representatives, it won nine seats in the 2006 general election.
