Bagpat district is one of the 75 districts of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with headquarters at the town of Baghpat. History Baghpat city, after which the district takes its name, derives its name either from ''vyagprastha'' ("land of tigers") or from ''vakyaprasth'' ("place for delivering speeches"). the city was finally named Baghpat, or Bagpat, during the Mughal era. Starting from a small commercial center known as the Mandi, the city grew in importance after the 1857 mutiny and became the headquarters of Baghpat tehsil. Baghpat is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of Bagpat district, which was established in 1997. It is part of the National Capital Region. Etymology The original name of the city was ''Vyaghraprastha'' (Sanskrit: व्याघ्रप्रस्थ, meaning ''tiger city'') because of the large number of tigers in that area. Muzaffarnagar is a city under Muzaffarnagar District in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Ghaziabad district () is a largely suburban district of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. It is also a core part of the National Capital Region. Rohtak () is a city and the administrative headquarters of the Rohtak district in the Indian state of Haryana.
