Noorderslag
ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, the Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event. Several awards are presented during Eurosonic Noorderslag: the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards, the European Festivals Awards, the Buma Cultuur Pop Award (''Popprijs''), the Pop Media Award (''Pop Media Prijs''), The Feather (''De Veer''), the "Iron Venue and Festival Animals" (''IJzeren Podiumdieren'') and the Buma Music Meets Tech Award. Buma Cultuur Pop Award
The Buma Cultuur Pop Award ''(De Popprijs'') is presented each January to a person or artist for making the most important contribution to Dutch pop music during the past year. The winner is appointed by a professional jury. The Pop Award is presented by Buma Cultuur, an organization which encourages and promotes Dutch music, supported by the Dutch music rights foundation Buma/Stemra. The first four editions of the prize were named ''BV Popprijs''. The first edition of the award was presented to Mathilde Santing in discotheque Escape in Amsterdam on November 25, 1985 for her achievements of that year. The prize for 1986 was presented in January 1987 to Claw Boys Claw, establishing the practice to present the award in the following year. Claw Boys Claw
Claw Boys Claw are a Dutch band, formed in Amsterdam. The core members of the band are Peter te Bos (vocals) and John Cameron (guitar). After some years of inactivity, the band started playing live again in 2007. Claw Boys Claw never attained much commercial success, and a venture into the American market was unsuccessful. Beginnings Claw Boys Claw was founded in 1983 by guitarist Allard Jolles, at the time guitarist and singer of L'Attentat, though he played drums in his newly founded band. The original four members were Jolles, Peter Te Bos, John Cameron, and bassist Bobbie Rossini. Their "garage rock," as the Dutch termed it (a lo-fi mixture of rock and roll and punk), quickly gained popularity, and in 1984 the band releases their first album, ''Shocking Shades Of Claw Boys Claw'', containing among others a cover of the song "Venus" by Shocking Blue. The Ex is an underground band from the Netherlands, started in 1979 at the height of the original punk explosion as a Dutch punk band. The Ex originated from the squatting movement in Amsterdam and Wormer, and was inspired by bands like The Fall and The Mekons. Daryll-Ann
Daryll-Ann is a Dutch rock band stemming from Ermelo, Netherlands. Between 1992 and 2004 the band released six studio albums, plus one live album. Daryll-Ann was the first signing of Dutch label Excelsior Recordings. History Early days (1988–1991) In the summer break of 1988 four high school students – Jelle and Coen Paulusma, Jeroen Vos and Frank van der Bij – decided to form a band. Before long Anne Soldaat joined the fold and rounded out the line-up. They took the name Daryll-Ann, based on a character that appeared in the American television show ''Hill Street Blues''. At this stage the band drew its influences from punk records and songs by The Cure. After the band members graduated from high school, they separately moved to Utrecht and Amsterdam to continue their studies. Still the band managed to record a first EP on the small Kelt label.
