Nomads R.F.C.
Nomads R.F.C. are a Hong Kong rugby union club, who play in G4S League Divisions 2,5 and 7 and are based in the Tai Hang Tung area in New Kowloon. Between 2008/09 the club has won over 6 different league and 7's trophies. History Nomads was formed in 1989. They were set up as a local club to bring through local Chinese players, although the dynamic has changed in the last few years as westerners have become more involved. The previous chairman, Aric Kay-Russell (2005–2007), said "We like to think we are one of the most integrated clubs in Hong Kong and we have a broad catchment area from the northern New Territories all the way down to Hong Kong Island. In 2008 the club took a significant leap by stepping into Division 2. To help ease this change, the club invested in two overseas imports- Craig Wilson (captain and asst. coach) and Steve Jones (head coach). Nomads Rugby
The Toronto Nomads Rugby Club is one of Canada's oldest rugby clubs. The Toronto Nomads are one of six clubs that formed the Toronto Rugby Union and the Ontario Rugby Union in 1950. Training in downtown Toronto, the Toronto Nomads boast three senior men's teams, two senior women's and seven junior squads, running from minis to U18. The senior women's team currently plays in the Ontario Women's League, while the senior men's team currently play in the Marshall Championship, the senior division of Ontario Rugby Union. Nomads Rugby Football Club play in Counties 4 League, England. History Nomads RFC, now known as Southsea Nomads RFC, was formed in May 1978 by a group of players who had all been members of the now defunct Portsmouth Civil Service RFC. That club disbanded at the end of season ‘77-78 and some players not wishing to join other local clubs decided to form one of their own. So with a meeting held at the “Old House at Home” Paulsgrove, Nomads RFC was born. The name was chosen because the team had no home and the logo of a Snail wearing a scrum cap soon followed, as a snail is a Nomad who carries its home on its back. Rugby union in Hong Kong is administered by Hong Kong Rugby Union, Hong Kong China Rugby since 1952, and successfully competes annually in the Asia Rugby Championship. The team competes as the Hong Kong China representative rugby union team. New Kowloon is an area in Hong Kong, bounded to the south by Boundary Street, and to the north by the ranges of the Eagle's Nest, Beacon Hill, Lion Rock, Tate's Cairn and Kowloon Peak.
