Noisy-le-Sec Station
Noisy-le-Sec station is a railway station in Noisy-le-Sec, Seine-Saint-Denis, France. The station opened in 1849 and is on the Paris-Est–Strasbourg-Ville railway and Paris-Est–Mulhouse-Ville railway. The station is served by RER E, RER Line E services operated by the SNCF and Île-de-France tramway Line 1, operated by RATP Group. The station has long functioned as an important depot and marshalling yard, making it a major railway node. The original station opened in the year 1849 with the first part of the Paris-Est – Strasbourg-Ville railway, railway line from Paris-Est to Gare de Strasbourg-Ville, Strasbourg-Ville and was enlarged in 1910. During the first World War, it was an important station for transporting troops to the front lines. Marshalling Yard
A classification yard (American English, as well as the Canadian National Railway), marshalling yard (British, Hong Kong, Indian, and Australian English, and the former Canadian Pacific Railway) or shunting yard (Central Europe) is a railway yard used to accumulate railway cars on one of several tracks. First, a group of cars is taken to a track, sometimes called a ''lead'' or a ''drill''. From there, the cars are sent through a series of switches called a ''ladder'' onto the classification tracks. Réseau Express Régional
The (; ), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. It acts as a combined city-center underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-center commuter rail, similar to the Elizabeth line in London, S-Bahn in German-speaking countries and the S Lines in Milan. Strasbourg-Ville station (French: ''Gare de Strasbourg-Ville'') is the main railway station in the city of Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin, France.
