Noche Bohemia
''Noche Bohemia'' is the debut album by Mexican singer Chavela Vargas, credited on the album as "Chabela Vargas". It was released in 1961 on the Orfeón label. Vargas was accompanied on the recording by guitarist Antonio Bribiesca. ''Noche Bohemia'' was the first of more than 80 records by Vargas. The album included " Macorina" which became one of Vargas' best known songs. Chavela Vargas (; born María Isabel Anita Carmen de Jesús Vargas Lizano; 17 April 1919 – 5 August 2012) was a Costa Rican-born Mexican singer. She gained widespread recognition for her distinctive interpretations of Mexican rancheras. Orfeón is a record label from Mexico, which has released many recordings for the Latin American market since at least the 1950s.D.A. ''Chavela Vargas'' is the second album by Mexican singer Chavela Vargas. It was released in 1961 on the RCA Victor label. Vargas was accompanied on the recording by the Cuarteto Lara Foster. The album included "La Llorona (; ) is a vengeful ghost in Hispanic American folklore who is said to roam near bodies of water mourning her children whom she drowned in a jealous rage after discovering her husband was unfaithful to her. Antonio Bribiesca
Antonio Bribiesca (January 23, 1905 - January 9, 1980) was a Mexican song composer and guitarist, performing in the mariachi and ranchera genres. He is noted for his recordings playing guitar in a supporting role for Chavela Vargas. Early life He was born to Antonio Bribiesca Toledo and María Luisa Castellanos. Bribiesca had lessons in music from an early age, and wrote his first melodies at age nine. His education did not progress beyond high school and he joined the Bohemian music scene in Mexico. Professional life He appeared in several Mexican films – several from 1950 to 1963, mainly as guitar player. "Macorina" is a song written by Costa Rica-born Mexican singer Chavela Vargas and based on a poem by Alfonso Camín. It was first recorded by Vargas in 1961. The song was controversial due to its reference to romantic longing between women and became a "lesbian hymn."
