Nobby is the diminutive form of the name Norbert. It is also a nickname most commonly used in English for those with the surname Clark or Clarke. Origins as a nickname A number of possible explanations exist for the use of Nobby as a nickname for people with the surname Clark. These include: * Clerks in the City of London used to wear Nobby hats, a type of bowler hat. Alternative spellings include "Knobby" and "Clarke". * 16th century monks wrote letters for the illiterate. These monks were referred to as "Clerks". Brian David Noble Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 14 February 1961), also known by the nickname of "Nobby", is an English rugby league coach and former rugby league footballer. He is the current head-coach of Bradford Bulls. As a footballer, Noble was a Great Britain national rugby league team, Great Britain representative , but is best known for his coaching career, during which he coached the Bradford Bulls, the Wigan Warriors, the Crusaders Rugby League, Crusaders RL and the Salford Red Devils in the Super League, and the Great Britain national rugby league team, Great Britain national team. He was the first coach to win three Super League Grand Finals, and is one of only two coaches to have achieved that feat along with Brian McDermott (rugby league), Brian McDermott. ''Five Go Off In A Caravan'' is the fifth book in the Famous Five series by the British author, Enid Blyton and published by Hodder and Stoughton. The book includes a circus boy character named Nobby, whose name was changed to Ned when publisher Hodder Children's Books made extensive editorial revisions to the Famous Five series of books. Plot The Famous Five are holidaying at the family house of Julian, Dick and Anne. They befriend an orphaned circus boy, Ned, who has come into possession of a horse-drawn circus caravan. This inspires George to suggest a caravanning holiday which Julian's parents agree to and hire two caravans for the children. The Topper (comics)
''The Topper'' was a UK comic published by D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd that ran from 7 February 1953 to 15 September 1990, when it merged with '' The Beezer''. A strip named " Mickey the Monkey" originally appeared on the front cover. In 1973, it was replaced by " Send for Kelly", by " Danny's Tranny" in 1975, briefly by "The Whizzers from Oz" in 1979, and again in 1979 by " Tricky Dicky". " Beryl the Peril" took over on 24 May 1986, and remained there until the merger with ''The Beezer''. Unlike most other comics at the time, which were half tabloid size, the Topper was for many years full tabloid. It changed to A4 in 1980, one year before ''The Beezer''. Two comics were merged into ''The Topper'' during its run: these were '' Buzz'' in 1975 and '' Sparky'' in issue 1276 (16 July 1977). ''The Beano'' is a British anthology comic magazine created by Scottish publishing company DC Thomson. ''The Beano'' has featured comedic strips, adventure strips, and prose stories. The longest-running strip in ''The Beano'', originally titled '' Dennis the Menace'' (currently titled ''Dennis and Gnasher''), first appeared in 1951. Nobby The Aardvark
''Nobby the Aardvark'' is a platform game for the Commodore 64, published in 1992 by Thalamus Ltd, Thalamus. Gameplay ''Nobby the Aardvark'' is a platform game taking place over multiple levels. The player takes the role of Nobby, an aardvark who eats ants. The game's plot involves Nobby trying to get to Antopia, a place where there are ants everywhere, so Nobby can eat. In practice, the majority of the levels involve Nobby jumping from one platform to another to reach the exit. Various enemies inhabit the levels. Contact with an enemy is fatal to Nobby, but there are anthills scattered around the levels, and Nobby can spit the ants at enemies to defeat them. Later levels vary the gameplay by having Nobby fly in a hot air balloon or navigate a maze-like shaft mining, mine shaft.
