No. 114 Mobile Control And Reporting Unit RAAF
No. 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) radar surveillance and air defence unit. Located at RAAF Base Darwin, Northern Territory, it is controlled by No. 41 Wing, under Surveillance and Response Group. Its role is to "prepare for, conduct and sustain effective deployable Air Surveillance and Air Battle Management in the Unit's designated area of responsibility". The unit was formed during World War II, and deployed in the South West Pacific. Since the war it has seen service in the Malayan Emergency, the ''Konfrontasi'' between Indonesia and Malaysia in the mid-1960s, and the War in Afghanistan. The Australian War Memorial (AWM) is a national war memorial, war museum, museum and archive dedicated to all Australians who died as a result of war, including peacekeeping duties. RAAF Base Williamtown is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base located north of Newcastle ( by road) in the local government area of Port Stephens, in New South Wales, Australia. The base serves as the headquarters to both the Air Combat Group and the Surveillance and Response Group of the RAAF. The nearest towns are Raymond Terrace, located west of the base and Medowie, , north of the base, which is home to many of the base's staff. RAAF Station ''Schofields'' is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base and aerodrome located at , a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. The aerodrome was used during World War II and was in operation between 1942 and 1944. History The aerodrome was constructed for use as a satellite aerodrome for RAAF Base Richmond. Deniliquin Airport is an airport located south of Deniliquin, a town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. RAAF Station Deniliquin RAAF Station Deniliquin was formed in 1941 as a station for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), during the Second World War, at the airfield as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme as No. 7 Service Flying Training School. Australian First Tactical Air Force
The Australian First Tactical Air Force (No. 1 TAF) was formed on 25 October 1944 by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Its purpose was to provide a mobile force of fighter and ground attack aircraft that could support Allied army and naval units fighting the Empire of Japan in the South West Pacific Area. One of several Allied tactical air forces formed during World War II, it evolved from the RAAF's No. 10 Operational Group, established a year earlier. Following action in the assaults on Aitape and Noemfoor, the group was renamed the First Tactical Air Force to better reflect its size and role.
