Nlerum Sunday Okogbule
Nlerum Sunday Okogbule is the vice chancellor of Rivers State University. He was appointed Vice chancellor in 2021 by His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. Before assuming the role of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Okogbule held the position of Dean of the Postgraduate School and previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University. Rivers State University
Rivers State University (RIVSU or RSU), formerly known as Rivers State University of Science and Technology (UST or RSUST), is a government-owned university located in Diobu (Mile III) area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Southern Nigeria. As of 2025, the vice chancellor of the university is Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi. He was appointed by the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in March 2025. History The Rivers State University of Science and Technology was established in 1972 as the College of Science and Technology. It was granted independent university status in 1980 and was renamed from College of Science and Technology to Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Nyesom Wike
Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (born 13 December 1964) is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who has served as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory since 2023. He previously served as the governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023. He is an Ikwerre man from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and was graduated from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Wike was elected as a two-term Executive Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area from 1999 to 2007. He was appointed Minister of State for Education on 14 July 2011. Wike was later appointed the Acting Minister of Education, after Ruqayyah Ahmed Rufa'i was sacked but resigned before finishing his term to campaign for governor of Rivers State.
