Njord (album)
''Njord'' is the third studio album by the German/ Norwegian symphonic metal band Leaves' Eyes, released on 28 August 2009 on Napalm Records. Njörðr comes from Norse mythology and is a name associated to the Vanir god of the sea and the wind. In this album the band used for the first time a full orchestra and choir and wrote for them suitable arrangements. The album was also released in a digipak deluxe edition, including two bonus tracks and a model of a Viking longship with Leaves' Eyes logo on the sail. Leaves' Eyes
Leaves' Eyes is a symphonic metal band from Germany and Norway. Formed in 2003 by Liv Kristine, formerly the lead singer of Theatre of Tragedy, along with the entire line-up of Atrocity (band), Atrocity, the band has since released eight studio albums, a single, six EPs, one live album, and a DVD. Most of Leaves' Eyes' lyrics, written by Liv Kristine until her departure in 2016, focus on Norse mythology and the Viking Age. In Norse mythology, Njörðr (Old Norse: ) is a god among the Vanir. Njörðr, father of the deities Freyr and Freyja by Sister-wife of Njörðr, his unnamed sister, was in an ill-fated marriage with the goddess Skaði, lives in Nóatún (mythology), Nóatún and is associated with the sea, seafaring, wind, fishing, wealth, and crop fertility. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created in 1995 on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Victor Dmitriyevich Smolski (, , born 1 February 1969) is a guitarist who was a member of the German heavy metal band Rage from 1999 until 2015, and a member of the metal bands Almanac, Mind Odyssey and Lingua Mortis Orchestra (LMO). Biography The son of professor Dmitry Smolski, a symphonic music composer, Victor was six years old when he began studying the piano, cello and later guitar. Rage is a German Heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in 1984 by Peter "Peavy" Wagner. They were part of the Music of Germany#Heavy metal, German heavy/speed/power metal scene that emerged in the early to mid-1980s and are considered part of the scene's "big four" alongside Grave Digger (band), Grave Digger, Helloween, and Running Wild (band), Running Wild. Chris Antonopoulos (born on 7 November 1973 in Dallas, Texas) is an American rock drummer, most notable for his tenure in Opiate for the Masses. Career Antonopoulos joined Phoenix/Los Angeles hard rock band Opiate for the Masses as a drummer in 2004. Before this time, he was a drummer for Vanilla Ice for three years. In 2006, he toured with the Revolting Cocks. On 21 August 2008, he played with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal's (Guns N' Roses) All Star Band at Rock Against Diabetes. On 3 November 2008, he left Opiate for the Masses and joined German bands Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes. He resigned from Atrocity on 27 March 2010. Scarborough Fair (ballad)
"Scarborough Fair" () is a traditional English ballad. The song lists a number of impossible tasks given to a former lover who lives in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The "Scarborough/Whittingham Fair" variant was most common in Yorkshire and Northumbria, where it was sung to various melodies, often using Dorian mode, with refrains resembling "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" and "Then she'll be a true love of mine." It appears in ''Traditional Tunes'' (1891) by Frank Kidson, who claims to have collected it from Whitby. Liv Kristine Espenæs (born 14 February 1976) is a Norwegian singer who has performed and composed songs mostly for various subgenres of heavy metal music. She started her career in the music industry as a vocalist for the gothic metal band Theatre of Tragedy, and is the former lead vocalist for the symphonic metal band Leaves' Eyes. She is known for her work in close association with her then-husband and leader of the German band Atrocity, Alexander Krull.
