Njombe District
Njombe District is a former Districts of Tanzania, district of the Iringa Region of Tanzania. The current Njombe districts are Njombe Rural District and Njombe Urban District. Up until 2012 Njombe District was among the districts of the Iringa Region. In 2012, the area that had been within the old Njombe District was incorporated into the new Njombe Region. Within the new region there were created three districts that had wards that were formerly within Njombe District: Njombe Rural District, Njombe Urban District (Njombe Town Council) and Wanging'ombe District. In addition Njombe Region received Makete District and Ludewa District from Iringa Region. Etymology The name Njombe originates from a name of a tree species "Mdzombe" that was by then dominant in the place called Mdandu which was a German "Boma (enclosure), Boma" during German colonialism, this tree species has a medicinal value. Iringa Regionen
Iringa is a city in Tanzania with a population of 202,490 () and situated at a latitude of 7.77°S and longitude of 35.69°E. The name is derived from the Hehe language, Hehe word ''lilinga'', meaning fort. Iringa is the administrative capital of Iringa Region. Iringa Municipal Council is the administrative designation of the Municipality of Iringa. Iringa has been one of the coldest regions in Tanzania due to its geographical location but that has attracted a lot of tourists from colder regions abroad especially Western Europe. Iringa also hosts one of Africa’s largest national parks the Ruaha National Park. Makambako
Makambako is a medium-sized town and district in the Njombe Region of the Tanzanian Southern Highlands, located roughly 40 miles north of Njombe city by road. It is located at junction of the A104 and B4 roads between Njombe, Iringa, and Mbeya. Its population according to the 2002 Tanzanian census was 51,049. Etymology The name of the town come from "Makhambako" (singular Likhambako), a Bena word for bulls. This was the name of the forest which had large tree called Likhambako. Bena residing in this area performed religious rituals at that tree leading to the whole forest being referred to as Makhambako. There are few trees found in Miti ya Makhambako Street in Ubena Ward, which are protected for history of the name of the town. Kifanya
Kifanya is a town and ward in Njombe Urban District in the Njombe Region of the Tanzania Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region.
