Nipun Ransika
Nipun Ransika (born 2 June 1999) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. In August 2018, he was named in Kandy's squad for the 2018 SLC T20 League. He made his Twenty20 debut for Kandy in the 2018 SLC T20 League tournament on 22 August 2018. Prior to his T20 debut, he was named the Sri Lankan Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year for 2017. He made his first-class debut for Colts Cricket Club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament on 7 February 2019. He made his List A debut for Colts Cricket Club in the 2018–19 Premier Limited Overs Tournament on 4 March 2019. Galle
Galle ( si, ගාල්ල, translit=Gālla; ta, காலி, translit=Kāli) (formerly Point de Galle) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip, from Colombo. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). 2018 SLC T20 League
The 2018 SLC T20 League was a domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka, between 21 August and 2 September 2018. Four teams took part in the tournament: Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy. The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and the R. Premadasa Stadium hosted all the matches. The third match, between Colombo and Kandy, finished as a tie, therefore going to a Super Over to determine the winner. However, the match was still tied after the Super Over, with both teams scoring five runs each. Colombo were declared the eventual winners, as they had scored the most boundaries. Colombo were the first team to qualify for the final, after remaining unbeaten in their first four matches. They were joined in the final by Dambulla, who finished second in the group stage. Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the county cricket, inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 over (cricket), overs. Together with first-class cricket, first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. School Cricketers Of The Year Award is an award given to school cricketers in Sri Lanka. It was first awarded by the patronage of Warner-Hudunut Ltd in 1978 and ''The Sunday Observer'' newspaper by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited has been sponsoring the award since 1979 in collaboration with other companies such as Mobitel (Sri Lanka), Bata Shoes, and Warner-Hudnut. So far seven players have been able to win the award twice. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Colts Cricket Club is a first-class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. 2018–19 Premier League Tournament
The 2018–19 Premier League Tournament was the 31st season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. The tournament started on 30 November 2018 and concluded on 10 February 2019. Fourteen teams took part in Tier A of the competition, split into two groups of seven. Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club finished in last place in the previous tournament, and were relegated to Tier B for this season. Negombo Cricket Club replaced them for this years' competition after they won the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament Tier B title. Chilaw Marians Cricket Club were the defending champions. List A Cricket
List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. 2018–19 Premier Limited Overs Tournament
The 2018–19 Premier Limited Overs Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Sri Lanka. It was the eighteenth edition of the Premier Limited Overs Tournament. The tournament ran from 4 to 19 March 2019. Sinhalese Sports Club were the defending champions. Following the conclusion of the group stage matches, Colombo Cricket Club, Moors Sports Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club, Panadura Sports Club, Ragama Cricket Club, Saracens Sports Club, Sinhalese Sports Club and Sri Lanka Army Sports Club had all progressed to the quarterfinals. Colombo Cricket Club, Moors Sports Club, Saracens Sports Club and Sinhalese Sports Club all won their quarterfinal matches. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. It was first registered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Sports as the Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL) on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. The board was renamed in 2003.
