Ninu Zammit
Ninu Zammit (born 1952) is a former Maltese politician, widely known for being suspended from the Nationalist party after an exposé of $3.4 million in his secret Swiss bank account in 2015. He served as a Nationalist MP since 1981, Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Energy (1987–92), Minister of Agriculture (1998–2003) and Minister of Resources and Infrastructure (2003–2008). Personal life Zammit was born in Zurrieq in 1952. He received bachelor's degrees from St Aloysius' College and the University of Malta, graduating with degrees in architecture and civil engineering in 1975. He has occupied several different posts in the Nationalist Party of Malta. Guido De Marco
Guido de Marco, (22 July 1931 – 12 August 2010) was a Maltese politician, who served as the sixth president of Malta from 1999 to 2004. A noted statesman and lawmaker, de Marco also served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Justice, and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was elected President of the 45th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 1990, and Chairman of the Commonwealth Foundation in 2004. A renowned criminal lawyer, he defended some of the landmark cases in Malta during the 1980s. His sudden death in 2010 shocked the nation and prompted three days of national mourning and a state funeral. 2008 Maltese General Election
General elections were held in Malta on 8 March 2008 to elect all members of the House of Representatives They were held alongside local elections. The elections were contested by the Nationalist Party, the Labour party, six other parties and independents. The governing Nationalist Party led by Lawrence Gonzi won its third consecutive election against the Labour Party led by Alfred Sant, winning the popular vote by a margin of just 0.55% and with its majority in parliament reduced to just one seat.
