The two-disc compilation includes the band's singles released between 1981 and 2005. Unlike the CD version of earlier singles compilation ''Substance 1987'', the A-side and B-side, B-sides are not included. While ''Substance 1987'' aimed to showcase New Order's 12-inch singles, ''Singles'' instead features mostly seven-inch versions, some of which are rare and differ from the album versions. The album includes three early singles that have never appeared on CD in their original form: "Ceremony (New Order song), Ceremony", "Everything's Gone Green" and "Temptation (New Order song), Temptation". Stephen Hague
Stephen Hague (born 1960) is an American record producer most active with various British acts since the 1980s. Early life Hague was born in Portland, Maine, in 1960. Early career Hague started his musical career in the mid-1970s as a session keyboardist. He soon became a member of the band Jules and the Polar Bears and produced (with Jules Shear) the two albums and one EP, released between 1978 and 1980, by that band. He then branched out into producing work by other artists, including 1980s Sparks offshoot band Gleaming Spires, their first album being recorded on Hague's home 4-track tape recorder. Lionrock was a British big beat group, comprising record producer Justin Robertson, MC Buzz B, and producer, engineer, programmer and synthesist Roger Lyons. Lyons replaced recording engineer Mark Stagg in 1995. Their biggest chart success came in 1998, when "Rude Boy Rock" reached the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. Georgina Mary Birch (born October 1955) is an English musician and filmmaker, best known as a founding member of post-punk rock band the Raincoats. Born in Nottingham, Birch attended Nottingham Girls' High School and subsequently Hornsey School of Art, where she formed the Raincoats with Ana da Silva in 1977. Following the first breakup of The Raincoats in 1984, Birch worked with experimental musician Mayo Thompson and his ensemble, Red Crayola, for a period in Germany. After this time, Birch formed the band Dorothy, with fellow ex-Raincoat Vicky Aspinall. The band was subsequently signed by Geoff Travis to Rough Trade.
